The following proclamation is ushered on dark wings from the castle of Moat Cailin to every keep in the north, and every corner of Westeros:
Rickon Baratheon,
You have said that is the actions of a man that prove his worth, and not the weight of his words. Your claim is truer than you know, for only the Old Gods judge a mortal soul after his life has been spent, measuring the deeds done and to what ends. I honor my homeland of the North and the people in her, and there is nothing I wish less than to see northman wage war on northman, and if there is any way that I may stave bloodshed, then I must with all my power.
I, Lord Olander Reed, Guardian of the Neck and once Lord Protector of King Gariss Stark, challenge you, Rickon Baratheon, to single combat before the eyes of the heart trees in Moat Cailin. I invoke the gods of the Children of the Forest and the First Men who signed their pact before them at the very site of where we do battle, to watch over us and judge the true fate of the North. I swear an oath before these Old Gods, and before the eyes of all the North and Westeros that no harm shall come of you and your followers, and you shall have safe conduct until our combat be done. May the Old Gods judge us justly.
