Since this is occurring before my latest orders went in, Bear Island should be very lightly guarded and commanded. A battle probably doesn't even need to be rolled.

Well, once I had heard their forces past the rills, I sent a raven ordering all men of Bear Island to take up arms and prepare fortifications against attack from the sea.
It should take a while for a ship to travel from the Rills to Bear Island. In that time, they could muster some defense against the Iron Islanders.

I told you in the PM about the Rills Stark, by the time you got words from their, they were invading the Island.
The Ironborn take Bear Island unaware, sinking all of the vessels they find there.

There would be few ships at Bear Island, seeing as there were no men there to sail them. Most likely the 10 westcoast north ships were either at stoney shore or deepwood motte
