Lords of Westeros,
Since the beginning of the great and noble Baratheon dynasty we have been ruled as one country, although a land of many peoples. We were united by Robert Baratheon and his loyal followers, who demanded justice for friends slain without due course of law by the Mad King Aerys.
We also have had a friend slain, without due course of law.
Roland Royce was a loyal servant of the Iron Throne. He served his King faithfully in peace and war. He spoke always honest council even when it was unpopular.
When he was jailed, for some unknown offense, we made no complaint. When he was given no trial, as he was due, we did not raise our voices in protest.
Yet now, after fifteen long years in captivity, on the eve of his release, won by her grace the noble Queen Selyse, he was murdered.
Cruelly murdered by the hand of his own liegelord.
Such cold blooded brutality is the act of a tyrant not a King.
It is the duty of a sovereign to provide justice to his people. When he denies them this justice, when he acts rapaciously, and without respect for their rights, granted them by Gods, old and new, he is abolishing the links that bind them, one to another.
As such, we, the undersigned, hereby declare, we are absolved of our duty to the Crown until such time as there is justice for Roland Royce.
Our lands shall pay no taxes to him. We shall raise no men in his defense. We shall not serve a tyrant.
Yet it is our long and common history which prevents us from severing full ties from the line of rightful Kings. As such, We call for Rodrick the Rapacious to abdicate in favor of his gentle noble son. We propose a grand council of Lords be called to decide on a Regent for this young boy, to see that he is raised right as a King, to do justice for his people.
We refuse to shed the blood of our beloved neighbors. We shall not march against them. Those who hold their peace and make no war on us, shall be called our brothers, and we shall welcome them and their council.
Those who raise arms against us we shall call our foes. We shall know that they love justice not. And they shall have no stake in determining the future of this country under the young new king.
So declared this date:
Lord Justin Hightower for the Far Reach
Lord Breck Dondarrion for the Stormlands
Lord Qhored Harlaw, for the Iron Islands
Lord Howland Royce, for the Vale
