"It's new." She tells him, smiling. "I can give you a few days to get your things together. I do hope you don't get seasick."

The man shook his head, "I have never been to sea. Do Iron Islanders live there?"

"Oh, no, of course not. Westermen named it that, as a sign of respect."
She pauses for a moment, the better to see his reaction.
"Of course there's Ironborn there, the lord is Jhorgo Greyjoy, my brother! What the hell kind of maester are you?"

Rutherford's back straightened, "I am a maester... they would not let me leave if I were not." His hand clenched into a fist, "I wish I could delay my departure."

"And why's that, Ruthy?" Helya asks, "Got some sweetheart you need to say goodbye to? Business dealings to tie up? Rival to kill?"

Rutherford sighed, "I wanted a better posting." His eyes pop open as he realizes what he said.

"A better posting?" Helya scoffs at the maester, "I don't see how you could have one. This is your opportunity to get in at the beginning. The first maester of New Pyke, a tropical paradise. Do you have any idea how much excitement and adventure awaits you? Oh, and do you speak Braavosi? Any other languages from out East?"

He nodded glumly, "Yes, I am sure a tropic island full of reavers will be my claim to the history books." He spat, "And if it were, it will be as the Maester to the barbarians who sacked Oldtown or something."

"Reclaimed Oldtown. Learn your history: We reavers once ruled this city, as we did all lands in which one may hear the crash of waves and smell the salt of the sea."
A fine maester: one that actually has a little fire in him. I'd think he had balls, but I've heard they get rid of those.

Rutherford rolled his eyes, "I bet history is lovely companion to your fallen men. They must wrap themselves in its warm embrace in an effort to ignore the chill of the present. I once was the tallest boy in my family, but then both of my younger brother's grew into knighthood." He spat, "The beatings they gave me constantly were not assuaged by the fact that I was bigger then them once." He looked at her and coughed out, "Milady."

Helya shrugs. "We take what we can. It's for the Drowned God to decide who's bigger than who for the time being. There will come a time when we rule once again, rest assured. But no," She says sweetly, "If you were hoping to get out of this assignment, it won't be happening. You're far too amusing for me to let you go. Octavion will just love your whining, I'm sure."

Rutherford walked to his bed, and lifted a large sack from underneath, "You are an Ironborn woman, from a new settlement, you do not have the influence needed to get your Maester changed." He sighed, "I will be ready to go in a couple of minutes. If you can wait?"

She huffs a bit, but replies, "Yes, yes, of course. As I said, we have some time, my men have some goods to move off the ship before we can make for home."

Rutherford fills his sack and after several minutes he turns to her. "I am ready."

"Then let's be going, Ruthy. Do try to cheer up. You'll love the place, I promise."
Helya spins on her heel and leads him from the Citadel, toward the Harbor.
