The study is as organised as one would expect of a man who most of his life has been brought up by military geniouses. It doesn't lack comfort though.

Howland read the letter of summons from the King and Queen, and the letter from Brandon telling him of his father's death. His hands shook for a moment, before he put the paper back down on the desk.
"It seems that I will have to go to King's Landing uncle," he said to Ser Scot Royce. "Send a letter to Brandon so that he can arrenge a vigil for my father. I need you to remain in the Vale, however, and take care of things". He put a hand on his uncle's shoulder, "forgive me for making you stay when you could stand vigil for my father". Scot nodded understanding the necessity of him staying.
Howland nodded and walked out of the room preparing for the journey.
