She laughed, thinking of Bealor.

Two men clad in travelling cloaks arrive at the Sharp Sword and ask to meet with the Lord Tyberion Lannister. They give their names as Aerio Naharis and Tyrio Querini of the city of Lys.

They are shown in to a small sitting room where Tyberion receives them. "I apologize for the location, friends, but my townhouse remains under construction. You're thirsty, I'm sure." He sends the serving girl that had led them in away, and she quickly returns with a bottle of wine, then leaves again and closes the door behind her.
"Now. What can I do for you?"

After a quick glance at Tyrio who was studying the Lannister lordling intently, Aerio took the lead.
"I will be blunt my Lord Lannister. As you know we are from the city of Lys. Our lord Prince Daario wishes to foster closer ties with Westeros. However he is concerned that the King of Westeros seems blinded by his alliance with Braavos.
"As such the Prince feels that a closer relationship between Lys and the Westerlands - in terms of trading ties - could be mutually beneficial to both almost immediately."
Aerio looked at Lord Lannister intently.
"And of course an understanding between the two of our realms now could prove very useful in the future. "
"And who knows what the future may hold."

"I'm certainly open to any beneficial business arrangements. We can lower tariffs a bit for your ships, I'm sure." Tyberion replies, before adding with a smile, "And I'm certain that I have no idea what you're referring to in the future. But nothing wrong with making friends...just in case of future trouble."

Aerio leaned back in his seat.
"Yes, lowering tariffs for Lyseni traders would be an excellent start. Naturally we would do the same for ships bearing the arms of Lannister or from the Westerlands.
"And Rodrick's very close alliance with Braavos? Do you support it?"

Tyberion thinks for a moment, swirling his glass of wine, before answering, "Foreign affairs are an area in which my views tend to differ from the King's."

Aerio nodded.
"Then we clearly have common ground. Lys also opposes the King's alliance with Braavos. We would hope that any of Lys' friends and allies would actively work to limit Braavosi power and influence. Naturally Lys would offer any support - financial or otherwise to members of an anti-Braavos faction here at court."
Aerio took a sip of his wine.
"And what of Rodrick the man, my lord Lannister? Is he a man worthy of Kingship?

"Rodrick is head of House Baratheon, which has ruled Westeros, with a short interruption, for the last three hundred odd years. By our laws, he is worthy. That said, he is a drunken sot that tramples the rights of his people. A drunken sot, granted, who is a demon in battle."

Aerio was silent for a moment. He pressed his hands together in front of chin deep in thought.
"House Baratheon has not been the only House to have ruled Westeros. As you say there was a short interruption in the time of Rodrick's grandfather and of course before the first of the Baratheon kings there was........" he trailed off, leaving the name unsaid.

Tyberion shakes his head.
"No. For all Rodrick's faults, the Targaryens would be no better. A pack of madmen, the lot of them. My father's actions, they had potential...but it's far too soon for another open rebellion. Too many of the houses that would have been interested have either been eradicated or crippled."

Aerio was silent again for a moment.
"Tell me Lord Tyberion. How many Targaryens have you met?"

"I can't say I ever have. But the fact remains that this city burned to the ground, the last time one of them reigned."

Aerio inclined his head in acknowledgement of the truth of Tyberion's words.
"That may be so my lord of Lannister, but I can assure you, not all of the Targaryens are madmen."

"And who among them remain? I remember stories when I was growing up, up the Targaryens being beggars in the halls of kings across the Narrow Sea, trying to gather an army to retake their home. And tales of dragons, of course. But nothing ever came of them."
