The King enters the room with six of his closest companions. Smiling at Royce, he looked about for his wife. He shrugged and looked back to Royce, "Selyse wanted to be here, but I want this done with. Several Maesters and experts have examined the Royce lines and told me that Brynden should have inherited the Eyrie... so give it to him."

"Is that all, your Grace?" Howland asked.

The King nodded. Then Yancey Smallwood stepped forward and whispered into the king's ear. The slapped his head, "Of course... I also want to give you my condolences for your father's unfortunate passing."

Howland clenched his jaw, and made a small bow, "thank you, Your Grace". He then straightened up and turned to leave.

Ser Trant mumbled something under his breath, and Rodrick burst out laughing.

Smallwood is in attendance, sitting the throne as only the King and his Hand are allowed to do.
Velaryon is let through by the guards.

The young knight approached the throne, limping slightly from the arrow-wound he had suffered at the last Battle of Harrenhal and knelt in front of it, before the Hand.
"Lord Hand. I thank you for agreeing to see me." he said, wincing a little as he knelt.

Yancey waves his hand. "I am a busy man, Velaryon. Do you have something to say?"

"Then I'll be blunt Lord Hand. As you no doubt know, until recently, the Velaryons have ruled Driftmark for over 500 years since the time of the Aegon's Landing.
"Lyreon Barclay currently holds Driftmark. With Lyreon Barclay in rebellion against the King, I have come to petition for the return of Driftmark to the heir of House Velaryon...namely myself."
"I therefore ask to lead a small force against Barclay's holdings and re-take them for the Crown. I have some experience of battle gained in serving the King and I have demonstrated my loyalty to the King."

"The traitor Barclay will be stripped of his titles. Continue in your path of loyalty, Ser, and your ancestral lands will be restored to you." Yancey looks down at the other man. "But our men cannot be wasted chasing after a non-essential keep at present. No force will be sent to Driftmark until our more dangerous enemies are defeated."

Monterys looked up at the man in front of him.
"Very well my Lord Hand. I accept your ruling. However when the time comes to take Driftmark I would respectfully request that I be involved."
He continued grimly.
"It would give me no greater pleasure than to personally avenge and redeem the honor of my family in the eyes of the King and the realm."
Monterys rose to his feet and bowed.
"I am, as always, at the King's service. He, or you as his Hand, have to only issue the command."

Smallwood nearly rolls his eyes. "I'll keep that in mind. You are dismissed."

Monterys turned on his heel and exited the Throne Room, a small smile playing upon his lips.
His family's greatest enemy was dead and regaining Driftmark appeared to be much closer. Things were looking up.
