Archery at the Fair

Olander Reed and Lucas Blackwood are competing at an archery contest at the fair, seeing who can shoot the most apples from the wooden targets' heads.

A score of 130 is needed to strike the apple from the target's head. Each competitor is given 3 shots to hit as many apples as they can.

Olander begins confidently, just missing the first apple and causing it to wobble as the flight whizzes past. His second shot is more wayward but his final shot thunks into the third apple with aplomb and skewers it to the cheers of the onlookers

Lucas steps up and promptly fluffs his first shot, which thuds into the groin of the wooden target causing many male watchers to wince. His second overshoots the target but, like Olander, his third triumphs. With one apple apiece, the crowd urge 1 final shot to the centre of the mark of the wooden target. Olander's arrow finds the middle and Lucas' attempt, though very close, is judged to be slightly wider of the mark
