Kebra released his breath and eased his finger off the bow string. The arrow jumped from the bow to strike to the edge of the white center. Smiling the Lord of Tumbleton undid the string on his longbow and walked over to the well off to the side of his courtyard. After pulling a half full bucket drinking some and then throwing the rest over his head Kebra went to find his Chief Steward.
Oslan was a small man with small face. Though it seemed larger due to the fact that he was balding. But the strangest about Oslan was his deep rumbling voice which seemed very out of place for the small man. Kebra always knew he could count on Oslan as the man was little better then a commoner. Thought the only reason he was not thrown out was the fact that Oslan great grandmother had been a bastard of a Footly.
"M'Lord Hunt it is very seemly for you to appear so... normal."
Kebra looked at the man, "Don't worry I shall go and put on a nice doublet so all the people may know that I own this place."
"No no no. I don't mean for your people as they all know you by site now. I mean for our guests."
"Guests?" Kebra knew that the answer to his question was somewhere in his head he just couldn't remember.
"Did you forget again M'Lord. Lord Wi........"
And there standing in his doorway was William. "You seem slightly soaked there my friend." William smiled broadly at his childhood friend.
Kebra laughed one of the few times he did, "You dirty old rose what are you doing here."
"The tourney of course. A man must have his entertainment."
"Why would I do that I still have my young wife."
The made the two friends laugh again.
"That sort of talk will make you lose. How about a horse race. I've got Phoenix and Saber's blood mixed into this one and I wish to let him have his head."
Kebra waved his hand and Oslan brought fourth the Lord of Tumbleton own horse, "Bottle of Ashford Red that your wrong."
"Done."
After the race that was argued long into the night over the bottle and then bottles of wine the friends could not decided who had won. But they couldn't be happier.
