A small but well appointed stone keep overlooking meadows and fields which give way to forest, Stoatheart is the ancestral home of House Varner. It's banner flaps lightly in the breeze atop the gatehouse.

Cyrus looked out the window of his solar, gazing into the courtyard were men were trainingat arms. They had been disappointed that the Varners were not traveling to the tourney. Cyrus too, was disappointed, although he agreed with the decision by Justin. He hoped Justin and Loren were enjoying themselves, or at least pretending to enjoy themselves well enough to escape notice.

Dorian Florent, makes a short excursion to Stoatheart, the Fox and Field banner clearly visible as he approaches the gate.

The gates are opened as soon as Lord Dorian is identified, and he is ushered in through the gatehouse.
Cyrus meets him in the courtyard, and gives him a hug.
"Hello Dorian, I see you got left behind as well, although I think that Justin and Loren are regretting their decision right about now I'd wager."

Dorian returns the hug, "Aye, my brother is not the most patient of men, he is quick to judge another's character though he is rarely wrong when reading a man's true intentions. Regardless, I count myself blessed to have remained here in the Reach."

Cyrus nodded, "Well to what do we owe the pleasure? Here to see your sister, or sneak off with some more of Maester Tomlin's books eh? I think some times your grandfather was lucky to get you to take Brightwater instead of a Maester's chain."

"Ahh yes, well despite what Maester Tomlin has told you there really was a page missing in his History of Dragon's and it was like that before I got it," Loren seems a bit defensive.
"In honesty, I just felt like visiting my sister and my old friend, it gets lonely in Brightwater from time to time, besides I have already read every book in my collection countless times. I feel as if I could recite the Song of Seasons from memory all 777 Stanzas."

"If you do, wait till I'm out of ear shot will you?" Cyrus smiled. "Come, your sister is in her embroidery. She's quite the productive one, I suspect she got that from your father. Constantly building something. If I didn't stop her, I'd be drowning in yarn." He began to walk towards his wife's apartments, Dorian behind.

Corinne smiled when her youngest brother entered the room, "Dorian, a pleasure to see you again," she ran to give her brother a hug.
"Are you hungry do you want wine?" she asked always the protective one of her little brother.

Cyrus smiled as his wife embraced her brother. Strong family ties were important. A resource the Far Reach did have.
"Dorian says We're the lucky ones that we didn't get to wine and dine in King's Landing."

Corinne made a face, "I'd agree its a nasty place to hear your mother talk of it and I don't want you to get any designs on running off there. Your place is here with your children." Corinne looked sternly towards her husband but smiled at the end to let him know all was well. . . at least for the time being.

Cyrus grunted, "I have no desire to go to that cesspool. Let Justin suffer the incessant japing, and backbiting. I've got a beautiful wife, health kids, a sharp blade and a fast horse, and loyal men. I am quite contented."

Corinne seemed pleased with that response and gave her husband a sweet peck on the cheek. "Lets hope it stays that way husband," she laughed.
Dorian laughed also. "Well it seems all is well in Stoatheart, perhaps I should just move on towards the next Keep and be sure that all is well. I am much more pleased to hear the happy stories of our kingdom rather then the incessant whining of the merchants in Oldtown and elsewhere."

"What are the merchants of Oldtown whining about?" Cyrus asked, curiously. He did not have the same head for figures as Dorian, despite the Varner's significant holdings.

"They complain about the Braavosi's favored status with Sunspear and of the pirate activity that they say has increased despite the best efforts of the Arbor fleet."
