In a bedroom high up in Lord Antario Yronwood's castle, a group of women were fussing around the gown of a girl, while her friends were helping her choose her jewelry. Yet another woman was carefully arranging the young lady's dark coils into a copper-colored hairnet. The bride herself, Marianne Wyl, stood calm under all the frantic attention.
"I like the amethysts, sister," Princess Selyse Baratheon said. "They look so pretty, in that cut." Lady Catelyn Blackwood was admiring them.
"But the moonstones go with her gown," said Lady Ysabella Yronwood.
"And we Dornish enjoy pale stones sometimes," said Ysabella's younger sister Sylva, who was hooking the earrings in. "Pearls and moonstones look striking against our skin. " At seventeen, Sylva was the same age as Marianne.
"Moonstones and amethysts, either one would work," said Marianne patiently. "I wonder what all the men must be thinking of us. We're going to be late."
"It's your wedding day," said Haley Yronwood, another of Lord Yronwood's sisters. "They can wait for you for as long as you like."
Finally, the bride was ready, and she made a pretty picture when one of the women gently let her veil fall down over her face. Then Selyse kissed her sister, as did the Yronwood girls, and they went down to the sept, while Marianne waited for the minstrels to announce her entrance.
Inside the sept, the guests were arrayed in silks of many hues. Marianne's younger brother, thirteen-year old Olyvar, sat with his father, looking tired. He had just returned from Braavos. Selyse gave him an encouraging smile as she took her seat. Then the music began.
Lord Antario Yronwood cut a splendid figure as he entered the sept with his bride on his arm. At twenty-five, the young Dornish lord was classically handsome in the Dornish fashion, with golden-brown skin and long black hair. His smile was both radiant and so confident as to almost be arrogant, but it suited him. Selyse heard Catelyn sigh next to her.
Marianne was tall and graceful beside him, composed and calm, but clearly happy with her fate. Not for the first time, Selyse felt satisfied with the arrangement. The Warden of the Stone Way, the Bloodroyal. There could be no better match in Dorne, for us. They say Antario is a skilled fighter too. Selyse had negotiated the marriage with Lord Antario, his elderly but sharp relative Lady Arianne, and Lord Garyson Wyl, who was Marianne's father. Marianne was bringing a large dowry with her, and many knights, thanks to Selyse's contribution.
The Dornish septon was friendly and cheerful, and the ceremony went by smoothly. Finally, Antario swept the cloak of his protection about Marianne's shoulders and kissed her, and the guests roared and applauded approvingly. Marianne blushed and smiled.
After a long feast, Antario's other sister Marcella cried, "Bed them, before my brother drinks too much to do the deed!" Laughing, Antario obligingly allowed the women to tear him away from his bride and bear him up the stairs. Catelyn and Selyse joined in, both of them rather pleased with the opportunity to relieve Antario Yronwood of his clothes. Marianne submitted to the knights slightly less enthusiastically, but with a brave smile.
The newly wed couple were bundled into bed together, with young Hector Yronwood shouting, "Show her the Boneway, Antario!" Then the doors were shut, and Selyse retreated with Catelyn and Antario's sisters, will other women and men stayed to drink and cheer.
Ysabella invited Selyse and Catelyn to join her and her sisters in Ysabella's chambers, which Selyse accepted gladly. The ladies ordered wine and spent the night chatting away animatedly, bundled cozily under heavy furs - desert nights were cold and uncomfortable, especially in the red mountains. However, it had been a very successful wedding, Selyse concluded, with sleepy satisfaction.

- Lady Marianne Wyl wed Lord Antario Yronwood
