The Mistfort looks its most majestic when viewed from afar, rising out of the morning mist. Comprising only of a single stone tower, the Mistfort is by no means a great castle. Nonetheless, this relatively recently built keep is both sturdy and well maintained.
The Mistfort is the seat of the knightly house of Norbury.
The current head of house Norbury is Ser Hugh Norbury, an unflinching old knight with a fierce temper. His wife is the mistress Helicent Norbury, a practical woman from rich merchant stock. Neither of their sons have quite lived up to their father's renown as a warrior -- Vincent, aged 21, has an unsavory reputation with the smallfolk, and Victor, aged 16, is honorable but incompetent. It is no secret that Ser Hugh's favorite is his daughter, Annalise, a beautiful young girl with a face like the Maiden herself.

Breakfast was a time of great activity in the kitchen of the Mistfort, and Colette found herself in the thick of the goings-on every day; she was not the head cook of the place, but she did help to prepare and serve the food as part of her daily routine in the service of House Norbury.

The head cook is a heavyset woman of middling years by the name of Lysa. In a modest keep like the Mistfort, the kitchen staff is small, and only Lysa, Colette, and a kitchen boy are there at the moment.
"Colette," Lysa says, moving over to the girl with a grace uncommon in a woman of her bulk, "Be a dear and carry the masters' breakfast up to them. They're in the main dining hall, I believe."

Colette nodded agreeably and tucked a large tray under each arm. In the beginner, this sort of coordination had been difficult. She had taken her share of spills, but after having spent several months at the keep, and having adjusted to the rourtine of it, even the most physically demanding of chores had become menial. She walked into the main dining hall with a small smile on her face, and did not interrupt her host family, but rather, set each of their plates before them, and served their drinks.

The three men of house Norbury all sit at the table, conversing about trivial matters. As Colette sets the plates down before her, Ser Hugh ignores her and Ser Vincent casts an appreciative eye down her figure, but Victor gives her a warm smile.
Leaning away from his brother and father, Victor whispers, "How is your morning, dear?"

Colette nodded at Victor, and smiled wider, but did not speak so as to avoid drawing attention to herself. "Will there be anything else for my Lords?" she asked politely, when the spread had been completely assembled.

"That will be all," Ser Hugh replies crisply. The head of house Norbury is a large man, strong despite his age, with bristly grey whiskers jutting aggressively from the side of his face.
"It tastes wonderful," Victor smiles again. He favors his mother, and cuts a much more handsome profile than either his father or brother. "Please give my compliments to the cook."

Colette nodded, and after their attentions had been redirected, made eye-contact with Victor, and glanced towards the door; he would know that she meant for him to excuse himself when he was able, and with that, she flashed a bright smile, and departed, lingering absently outside the dining hall doors.

Victor waits a few minutes, then makes his excuses and follows. As he slips out the door, he sneaks up behind Colette and plants a quick kiss on her cheek.

Colette beamed widely as he slipped through the large doors, her enthusiasm uninhibbited, "How was breakfast?" she asked smilingly.

"Wonderful as always, my dear," Victor grins, then takes a furtive glance down the corridor to ascertain that they are alone. "Though I can't bear to think of you slaving away at the cookstove. Are you sure you wouldn't rather live in a house in the village? I have money enough of my own for that."

Timon the Clansmen sits among the hedge knights and other retainers eating the food. The others give him more space then is due on the currently crowded bench, he had already earned a sort of notoriety amongst his own in the Mistfort.
He eats intently from a leg of lamb in his hand, and sends sharp glances at the men around him now and then.

Ser Walter is also sitting among the knights of the Mistfort, enjoying his meal. His favoured drink is noticably not present and he seems a bit down.

The master of the Mistfort's small stable, Grenn, sits in between Walter and Timon, though considerably closer to the former than the latter.
"Will you be entering the lists, Walter?" Grenn asks, tearing off a hunk of bread and dipping it in some grease.

Colette asked tentatively, as thought to expose the inate flaw of his plan, "No," she continued with a reasuring smile before he had time to answer, "I am happy to be here."
