A skinny, rough-looking young man in rather dingy clothes wanders his way into town. A longbow is slung across his body, a sword is on his hip, and a quiver full of arrows hangs from his back.
He heads for The Green Adder and takes a seat at the bar.

"Think I'll have me a beer, if you don't mind, mate. And what've you got cookin' back there?" Dannyl sounds cheerful, fishing around in a small bag for some coin.

"You certainly would. Name's Dan," He takes a swig, "Come from some no-account town in the Riverlands, but I've been wanderin' 'bout as long as I can recollect. And I think I'll have the pike, though I can't say I expect it'll be better than what's at home."

Dan gets a bit embarrassed from all the attention. "Now, now, 's just another place, no different'n this one..."
He pulls out a dagger and cuts off a bite of the fish, then pops it into his mouth and chewing it thoughtfully.
"Well, it's a damn fine piece of fish, can't deny all that. But, you understand, 'm not one to say somethin's better'n what my mother made, eh?"

"Well, somewhere to go, innit?" Dan replies with a smile, "Heard there was ta be a tourney 'round here, too, and they's always fun. 'Specially when I win."

"Well, I'd be an archer first and foremost, but I can swing a sword as well as anyone. Who can say, might get lucky and catch one of the good knights unawares. Nobody calls me ser, don't have to bother with pesky ideas like chivalry."

"Indeed. Here's to hoping the lot of you locals can't hit an aurochs at two paces." Dan takes a deep pull from his mug. "Now what's this about trouble brewing? Some Norgraves and Belburies causing a ruckus?"

"Any chance it'll come to blows, you think?"

"Ah." Dan says, grinning, "A young girl or a pretty one?"

The door to the Green Adder opens and a blonde man swathed in a black mantle enters.
He takes a seat at one of the benches, where he removes his gloves and unclasps his mantle. The man is not wearing armour, but the long sword at his hip indicates that this is a fighting man.

The new arrival goes up to the bar and orders an ale.
"Greetings." he says to the bartender. "I am Ser Aurane Waters. I seek lodgings for myself and a stable for my horses.

Ser Aurane nodded his thanks to Lou.
"You seem like a man who knows what's happening around these parts. Any idea whether any of the local lords around here are seeking to hire fighting men?"

"Sounds as though they may all be, friend, but then I just got here myself."

Ser Aurane nodded.
"Fighting in a tourney is a good way of gaining employment for the likes of me. Hopefully this Lord Lynderly or mayhap someone else will consider taking me on if I can make an impression."

From the north, the distant murmur and foot beats of an approaching band of men became louder, more pronounced. It was near middday when Ser Belgrave and his noble men arrived. A number of his villagers rushed forward before the party and blew loud trumpets on their horns.
"Make way, for Ser Marrick Belgrave and his brave son, the Pineglory!" the called, marching to the Sunkenwood Castle to treat with Lord Lynderly.
