Cedric summons the small council together and states immediately, "Because of the damage wrought by the invaders we need to reduce our expenditures. I recommend we disband the King's men."

Durran sat and contemplated for a time, checking over figures from his ledger. "Is there a substitute for removing the King's largest personal guardforce? Why not lower the number of goldcloaks on patrol or drop their monthly salaries? Disbanding the King's Men is just asking for trouble."

Cedric rolled his eyes, "Can we all remember that they have only existed for a couple of years. For centuries the King did not have these men."

Durran nodded, "But maintaining their number does not cost as much as even one tenth of the goldcloaks. The King's Men are cheap and efficient."

"But the Goldcloaks also enforce the laws of King's Landing. If we want to give that job to the King's men, and disband that Goldcloaks I will support that."

"The Goldcloaks number in the thousands. Lower their salaries by a tenth and you'll have enough to maintain the King's Men and give them each a decent -raise-."

"My point was that the Goldcloaks who guard the king, and enforce order in the city are more important then just a military organization who only guards the king." Cedric replied. "If we must we can give command of the Goldcloaks to the Lord Commander."

"Why consolidate them anyway? One can be served to check and keep in balance the other."

"Why consolidate, because with all the damage wrought to the Kingdoms by the Invading monsters, there is an immense shortage of coin to pay for the King's needs." Cedric replied.

"Disbanding the King's Men will be less than a drop in the bucket of coin the King needs. Perhaps we should think of a better project to earn back the King's wealth." Durran turns to Rickon.

Cedric laughed, "This is only the begining. But I assume you can think of no one way to cut our spending or you would have recommended that."

"To cut spending by lowering the monthly salary of the goldcloaks will do far more than your plan might suggest. What say you your grace?", Durran said, turning to the King.

Rickon said, "Perhaps both are in order if our woes are so large."

"So it shall be done."
