Rickon nodded.
"As Ser Mychel, and we shall see if it is within our power to grant."

"I request your leave for Dragonstone, to lead the assault on Velaryon's rebels. It is past time your grace's holdings at Dragonstone are brought back into the fold, I believe, and I wish to deliver them to you."

"Ser Mychel, is the Kingsguard in such a position where it can afford to be without its Lord Commander already? Are all the positions even filled? The battle for Dragonstone will be very bloody I think. Right now Lord Redwyne has the command, and he is a noted tactician for combat on or from ships. As well, I might add, the only lord we have with any ships worth the name. I would fear to alienate him by replacing him in the command. What do you think?"

"I believe they are your grace. Ser Malcolm Hardyng of the Vale, who fought under Lord Roland, has agreed to don the white cloak, as well as the young knight I spoke to you of on the eve of battle. He has the potential I saw in him originally, and despite his youth is very skilled with his blade. For my last brother I desire Ser Patrek Redfort to wear the white cloak, but he has not yet returned from his mission in the west.
I would not expect to push aside Lord Redwyne as commander, but one of your kingsguard should fight beside the soldiers retaking Dragonstone, to represent your grace in battle and to take the walls from the traitors who hold them," Ser Mychel said.

"I agree. But we shall also need a representative in the armies which retake the Riverlands. I thought you a better fit there."

Ser Mychel bowed his head, slightly disappointed. He had not truly expected to be sent to Dragonstone, but had hoped so nonetheless. "I bow to your wisdom, your grace, and I will cleanse the riverlands of the taint of the ironborn when the time comes." He thought for a minute. "I think I will send Ser Galahad to Dragonstone, by your leave. He is up to the challange, and will do your grace proudly there."

"As you see fit Ser Mychel." Rickon said softly.

////////////////////////////////////////////////// Ser Mychel came again to speak with the King Rickon. "Your brother has arrived at Sandstone safely with Lord Dondarrion, and Ser Galahad has joined the Arbor fleet. When the navy from the Shield Islands arrives there, they'll likely assault the castle, though until then the blockade will remain in place. Ser Patrek Redfort of the King's Men has begun his vigil, and will become my Sworn Brother and your sworn protector within a fortnight," the Lord Commander head. He thought for a moment, and then added, "and Erik Greyjoy has been brought in shackles, by representatives of Lords Stark and Reed."

"That is all well Ser Mychel. Thank you. Do you think it best to call the court back to King's Landing now? Or should it wait until the Riverlands are fully cleansed and Dragonstone pacified?"

"I think it is time that your grace's queen and court return to the capital. The realm is returning towards normalcy, and your grace's Small Council will soon need to meet to discuss the vast amount of work that looms before us. Also, I would like to have my brothers Ser Galwyn and Ser Bertram here, for it will be easier to protect your grace and the Queen if you are together," Ser Mychel said.

"There is the matter of Erik Pyke as well. I will fight him, and prove his guilt in the eyes of gods and men," Ser Mychel paused, unsure of how to continue. "I am not afraid to fight him, but I believe giving him trial at all is a mistake. I do not wish to question Lord Tyrell's knowledge of the law, but I understood the purpose of a trial to be determining whether or not someone is guilty. Trial by combat puts this process in the hands of the gods, but Pyke's guilt is not in question, he does not even deny his treachery. Does that even warrant trial?" the White Knight asked.

"Ser Mychel, I am in agreement with you, but it seems we have no choice, the precedence in the matter is clear. I will revise the law when the matter is concluded."

'Very well, your grace. I would prefer to resolve this matter as quickly as possible, so if your grace does not mind I will arrange the fight to occur on the morrow. Should I fall, Ser Elwood would be my recommendation to replace me," he added, almost as an after thought. "I never told you how impressed I was at your performance in the retaking the city. Do not stop studying strategy, I see a great general in you one day."

"Thank you Ser Mychel. Lord Cedric had suggested a delay. I am not certain as to why, perhaps he wishes to research certain legal niceties. Do you see any reason not to honor his request?'
