Willam Dondarrion retired back to his tent following his spar with Darien Stone. His held still spun from the last blow Darien had crashed against his great helm. In the camp it was dark, and he saw Kaland Stone around the fire with some of the men. Willam took a seat next to his old friend, who had already made a plate of food for him upon his arrival. Willam Kaland and the men sat talking for awhile. For the most part Willam remained quiet. He laughed when it was appropriate, but for the most part his mind remained on the upcoming siege at hand.
Willam had received reports that the valiant defenders of King’s landing had reduced the enemy numbers by a staggering 20,000 men. While Willam relished the news and mourned the losses of the brave defenders, he knew what this scenario foretold. The army he was a part of would outnumber the invaders almost three to one, but deep down in Willam’s heart he knew it may not be enough to retake King’s Landing so easily.
Willam had been sparring as much as he could as of late and in fact following the fire he was going to ask Kaland Stone to spar with him once again. It was still approaching dusk so he knew he still had some time. Willam hoped the fact that he showed such an eagerness for battle would inspire his troops to relish the fact that they could meet the enemy head to head. For the most part it seemed as if this was working, but Willam also knew that there was more to victory in battle than simply passion and heart. It was for this reason he called several of his more experienced veterans together.
Willam, Kaland and seven other men sat around the fire. It was Willam’s intention that during this discussion he would instill these veterans and leaders with enough knowledge that they may pass it on to the younger soldiers amidst his ranks. Willam began to speak following a short discussion.
“When and if the fighting does start, I want you men to be as secure as possible in your orders and your discipline. No soldier is good to us dead, and it is my intention that not a single Stormlander fall. Still, should we engage these foreigners in the coming weeks the battle will be fierce, and it will be bloody. King’s Landing, while it is not a fortress is as hard as a place as any to siege. Make sure your armor is tight, and your swords sharpened.”
A few of the men nodded and Willam took a swig of wine before continuing. “Kaland Stone and I will lead you in two separate charges. Whether we assault the walls with ladders, or we are assigned to taking one of the gates. It is my intention that should one of us fall the other will lead the remainder of the soldiers. In addition, I have observed you all in the last battle and have decided that you are my greatest weapons of war in this upcoming fight. I am counting on your strength and resolve to motivate the less experienced troops. You all know the ways of war and some of you know a great deal more of battle than even I. Have the men keep tight in their formations, have them assault the walls without fear, and instill a courage in them that will make them fight harder than they have ever fought before.
Willam ended and Kaland Stone added one last note on the matter, “Remember this may be the last chance we have to recapture King’s Landing. Should we fail here the foreigners will hold King’s landing and we may have to submit to these foreign lizards. Think of all those people who have died because of these senseless invaders’s when you assault those walls. Take back your home from these invaders”.

After a few more words the company of men departed. Willam and Kaland remained talking a bit more about the matter.
Willam began. “Kaland this will be the greatest struggle you and I have and may ever see. How do you feel about it?”
Kaland Stone spat in the fire before him before beginning brushing his black hair back with his hand. “I see it as our final chance Willam. Westeros has fought and bled to drive these invader’s back, and we have unified behind a common cause. It is funny to see all of us united under one flag to fight someone besides each other. This is our chance Willam, our chance to purge this plague from our land, rebuild King’s Landing and rebuild our kingdom.”
Willam nodded to Kaland. He wondered sometimes what Kaland Stone was thinking. He had always been mysterious, a deep thinker who spoke little but always seemed to have something on his mind.
Willam arose from the fire and stretched his legs he could see the sun setting on the horizon as he spoke to Kaland. “How about one final bout before we commit ourselves to this siege in the coming weeks.” I have a feeling we will receive big news soon and the anticipation will not help me sleep. However, I am sure I will fall asleep easily after a few rounds sparring with you what do you say?”
Kaland smiled and picked up his sword as they walked over to the tourney field. They both secured their helmet lifted their swords and began.
----------------------------
In the opening moments Kaland and Willam circled as each traded a series of blows in a structured manner, while the other countered in turn. Willam noticed that Kaland often fought in any way he could as long as he was victorious, which was a lesson he learned well from his childhood friend. Willam knew almost every counter to Kaland’s nasty tricks and he was grateful for that. Before long the final round began and the two men engaged each other with serious intent.
Willam grasped his bastard sword with two hands as Kaland Stone rushed at him. Today Kaland chose to abandon his shield and was fighting with his left arm outstretched counterbalancing his swings with his long sword. Willam began striking hard at Kaland’s left side. Kaland’s sword spun and wrang as it parried Willam’s bastard sword downward. Kaland quickly shuffling his feet around made an attack to Willam’s back, but the move was to structured and Willam knew where it would land. He ducked from the blow spinning to face Kaland again. They exchanged a series of blows back and forth as their blades met one another.
The duel went into the night as each of them could not gain a foothold on the other. They were both equally matched and it occurred to Willam right now that as much as Kaland had taught him he had also taught Kaland. He knew this would be useful in the upcoming battle. As their swords whirled Willam finally saw his opening as Kaland drove his sword downward at Willam’s mid section. Willam raised his sword with both hands quickly placing the point against the exposed area at Kaland’s throat where no armor was visible. “I’ve got you now” Willam yelled. Willam continued “Well fought but it’s about time you yield.” Kaland smiled it was then Willam felt something poking between his armor. Willam had abandoned his sword for a dagger having placed it in the crevice between Willam’s breastplate right next to his heart. Kaland spoke “Perhaps you should yield”. Kaland smiled
