Blackbar followed Stone, while Tarly stayed with Cedric.
"They were very close," Tarly said, scratching his head in some frustration, "Irwyn squired for Rodney at Bandallon, in the old days."
Blackbar bent over the body.
"He slew the enemy general you said?" Blackbar said, as he ran his finger over a shattered piece of Irwyn's breastplate, trying to compose himself.

"He was a great man." Cedric replied solemnly, "The King is far weaker today then yesterday."

"He did just that. Cut the bastard to ribbons before kicking him off the wall." He noticed the bolts still deep in the man's body. "Those," he said, pointing at them "I cannot rightly explain. Investigations will however be made." He sighed, and stepped back to leave the man to grieve. "Had it not been for those bolts he may have lived."

Tarly nodded. "It's cost us much already. And there is more yet to be done."

Blackbar grabbed onto Darien's wrist. "What do you mean you can't fucking explain? What the fuck is that supposed to mean." His eyes red with the anger of loss.
"What the hell are you talking about man?" asked Tarly, as he approached.

Darien didn't even feel the man grab him. "What I mean is that the men that shot Lord Irwyn could not have been the Basilisk. They do not have crossbows, only longbows and the like. Whoever shot The Hand was amongst us."

"It seems like Alexander was hit by friendly fire." Cedric replied calmly, "I am sorry to break it to you like this." He shook his head but cast a dark look at Darien.

Blackbar lept up, and into Cedric's face. "Friendly fire? He was the god damn Hand of the King! You expect me to believe this was an accident? Someone accidentally hit him with a volley of bloody quarrels?"
Tarly grabbed his friend and older mentor, and held him back a pace.
"Please Lord Blackbar, you are distraught. now is not the time. We can discuss the matter when you are thinking clearly."
"Its never been more clear to me." Rodney said huffing and puffing.

Cedric lowered his head, "I am sorry Lord Blackbar. I can not think of single reason for one of our men to commit such an act. The battle was going against us. Panic simply set it." Cedric motions around to the piles of dead, "I can assure you, those men paid for their error with their lives."
