Galahad had taken to Ser Dylan quickly, and the feeling was mutual. As their friendship blossomed, so did their skills. Spending as much time in the make-shift yard as they could, honing their impressive skills.
After a while, they had begun to draw a crowd of watchers as the two dueled. Ser Dylan Crane was aged, from a lesser branch of the house. His experiences had made him a formidable foe, though his aged body left his movements and reflexes slower than Galahad's.
Galahad had never seen Ser Janos since that day, nor any of the other 'knights'. Gal had never met a Knight by rights before his time in the war, though he had heard stories of them from his mother, as she often told stories of famous Knights and Kings of old, those who defended the weak and the tortured, while prevailing over those who preyed upon women and children. The first knights he had met held no such values or virtues, as they were foul men, staining the title of Knight, and wrongly abusing the power given to them.
Ser Dylan Crane was different. He supported those who were weak of legs, and fought for what was right, by the Seven. If anything, meeting Ser Dylan had raised Gal's hopes for the world as he knew it.
When they were in the yard, a crowd had drawn, yelling for either himself or Dylan. None knew his name, so they instead called him a variety of things, including Farmer and Boy, until they had learned his name one way or the other.
As the two circled each other, Dylan with a tourney sword and shield, and Galahad with two dulled swords which he obtained through the generous Ser Dylan. They had been fighting for a long time, and both were breathing heavy. 'Finnish em' off!' a man yelled from the crowd, though one could not tell whom he was referring to.
Still with his energies, Galahad pushed the attack, though barely glanced a blow off the elder knight's armor, as they moved about. Ser Dylan was outfitted with light plate armor, in the major parts of his body, where Galahad only wore a half-helm with a nose piece, and a double-link chain mail shift. Swinging for the feet, Galahad caught Ser Crane, sending him to the ground, though the elder knight was prepared, and immediately rolled up, counterattacking and landing a blow on Galahad's shoulder, bruising it, much to the crowd's pleasure as they cheered the duel.
As Dylan tried for a second blow, Galahad raised his own sword, catching the man's blade, before swinging his other sword, and catching Dylan's shield with a thud, sending the man staggering a step, enough for Galahad to spin to the left, coming onto the elder's side, and plating a backhand swing on the man's plated shoulder blades, sending him staggering the other way.
Dylan's style had given Galahad trouble, as it was based mostly off of counter-attacks, and exploiting the enemy while they are on the offensive. In the beginning, this had caught Galahad off, though as he had gotten used to it, Galahad became a much more seasoned fighter, more patient and wary of his opponent, less rash to push himself into battle.
Trading a few blows, parrying each within quick succession, the two advance backwards towards the crowd, Galahad on the offensive, as the crowd parts. They heckle and cheer for the two, as they take the fight upon logs and rocks, dancing from stone to grass to wood. As they fought, Dylan kept his ground solid, allowing nothing past, as Galahad tried from all angles, attacking, the blocking the counters as the crowd followed. Climbing upon a rock for the higher ground, Galahad continued the fight, beating down upon the experienced knight, trying to overwhelm him. Eventually, Galahad jumped from atop the small boulder, swatting away Dylan's sword with one of his own, sliding the other in past his shield, and catching him in the ribs, sending the man to the ground, as Gal landed with a thump. Offering a hand, he helped raise the knight to his feet.
"Well done," Dylan smiled, clasping Gal's arm.
"Thank you," Galahad said, smiling. "I'm getting better." Around him, people were cheering for his victory, some muttering for his name, eager to learn it, others were patting him on the back, or handing over coin for lost bets.
