The great mass of the Enemy has turned its attentions to the Stormlanders as they approach the siege.
A token force of about 8,000 remains to keep Deep Den under siege.
before the gates, the Enemy places two gates covered by black clothes. Two hooded slaves stand beside the containers, as though they are waiting for some order.

Standing at the gates, Darien turns to his fellow valemen, Ser Templeton. "So, ready for this suicide mission?" He said with a slight smile on his face.

"I plan on living," he said, looking at the older man, "Stay close, so we may both do so. Perhaps I will kill more of these Lizard Men than you," Gawain said, returning the smile.

Darien laughed. "Well, you certainly are very optimistic." He unsheathed his sword and inspected the bronze colored blade. "Let us hope your words will turn truth." His facial expression had turned more serious.

In the large battle outside the walls Ser Byren Selmy was just managing to hold his own in combat. At the beginning he was doing well leading the troops, but as the battle unfolded his skills were such that he was no longer able to keep order in the chaos around him.

Templeton's face remained expressionless still, the small smile dieing from his face. Turning his head back to the black masses before him, he noticed the two cages. 'Those will mean no good,' he thought. 'They must be destroyed.' Seeing storm clouds in the distance, he hoped they would not reach the battle.
"There is little we know about them. I fear we haven't seen all they have to offer."

Darien nodded, his eyes following Gawain's gaze to the cages. "You are right in saying that. Who knows what demons they will send against us today?" He sighed and looked back to Gawain. "I had hoped to marry Asha, but that may never happen. Have you a girl, Ser Gawain?"

Luckily for Darien, the Lord Hand does not hear the disparaging comment, he waits anxiously his mare, Dacey's Son is snorting as it has trouble seeing with the temporary blinders that he has placed on it to protect it from the Basilisks' gaze.
"Men of Westeros," he shouts. "today we face a terrible enemy on the field of battle, a ruthless enemy that will give no quarter. As you prepare for battle today realize this is the first among many if we are to rid our lands of these reptiles. Fight for your friends, Fight for your family and most importantly fight for your freedom!"
Dacey's Sun whinnies.
"Many will die today, but many more will die if the enemy should prevail. Mighty warrior grant us your strength on this day, and may the crone light the way out of the darkness and into the light."
Alexander raises his axes to signal the preparatory missile fire and the marksmen on horse will be first out the gate with orders to kill the slaves who guard the Basilisk's cage.
As the arrows blacken out the sky, the gates are thrown open and the men of Westeros prepare to enter Battle. Calvary in front and a collection of footmen, pikemen and other assorted weapons wait patiently to the rear.
