Kellington's mind had been racing lately with news of the massive invasion force. The most surprising bit of all was that they had been able to kidnap Prince Rodrick, who despite being a wild child was no less the heir to the throne. Kellington had been making constant trips to private and public libraries looking for any information on the lands that lay to the west, and in the rest of his spare time he was working on expanding his network to try and uncover who took Prince Rodrick.
Kellington was aware that the Red Keep had very many secret passageways, and few if any knew of all of them. Kellington had privately inquired to visit at least one of these passageways, and after a while of inquiring he was showed one that a small boy had discovered and revealed to him for a dragon. The tunnel did not go anywhere important but it did reveal the mastery of the layout the construction must have taken. The walls were strong despite obvious usage.
He thanked the boy after leaving and exited the Red Keep quickly, heading for Great Sept of Baelor. When he arrived he gave his horse to a young attendant and walked inside, clad in plain clothes that denoted no station. He smiled to those within the sept he knew and found Septon Norm at the back of the main hall.
Kellington nodded to the man who knew more or less why he had come. The Septon was in his early thirties as well, an attractive man with red-blonde hair, not unlike the late Lord Barclay.
"Shall I introduce you to High Septon?", Norm said motioning him forward.
"Indeed, I would be honored to make his acquaintance ", Kellington said as he made to follow the Septon.
They headed back towards a hallway with many chambers and Norm announced Kellington before ushering him into a room with guards and attendants aplenty.
Kellington bent to one knee, "Your holiness".
The High Septon nodded to the Stormlord, "You may rise, Lord Kellington."
"Lord Kellington is a good friend of the Sept and a devout himself. He is known among some circles for his contributions to the Sept", Norm said to the High Septon.
"I'm pleased to hear this, Lord Kellington. What brings you to the Sept on this beautiful day?"
"I merely arrived to make your acquaintance, your Holiness", Kellington said followed by a number of lines of small talk. The two talked for another ten minutes or so, and after Norm gave Kellington a small signal, Kellington said his goodbye, bowed, and left the room.
It was after this that Kellington gave his directive to Norm, "I will continue donating money to the Sept, but in return I want to hear reports from not only here, but other Septs. I want knowledge of who comes here, and anything they say to the Septons. I want to know who gains audiences with the High Septon. I also want to be able to hide people in a sept, potentially, and how to detect others who have been hidden. Can you do this for me?"
Norm hesitated and then nodded, "I can, though it will no doubt take some time."
"Of course", came Kellington's reply. "But see it done." He put a hand on Norm's shoulder, turned and left through the main exit.
In the next week Kellington made regular visits to Septs he already had informants in, as well as ones he had no one in. To the richer septons, he offered more money in exchange for information, and at the poorer septs he offered food, shelter and protection.
