Antario Yronwood sighed as he left his keep. He had intended to see through his plans personally, but the inconvenient call to arms would prevent that. Nonetheless, the groundwork was set, the seeds sown, and Antario doubted anything would go wrong at so early a stage. His sweet sister was more than capable of handling the rest of the matter. Perhaps the war might even prove to be an entertaining diversion…

Redemption Smith was a Dornishman through and through. He was also a professional thief, though he chose not to look at it that way – Lord Pommingham was no Dornishman, and his property was all surely stolen, and as a man of Dorne Redemption was surely as entitled to it as anyone else. Redemption’s father was a career criminal, same as him, and his mother, a pious woman, gave Redemption his distinctive name in hopes of deterring him from following in his father’s footsteps. It didn’t work. Redemption more commonly calls himself Lucky Demp to avoid the questioning looks, and he was feeling rather lucky tonight indeed.
A few pieces of Lord Pommingham’s best silverware were tucked in one pocket. They’d fetch a pretty price, Lucky Demp judged. He could have easily taken more, but it was best to take only a little, in his professional experience. The Lord would be more inclined to blame the loss on a careless maid than consider that a thief had stolen over his walls in the night.
Demp was whistling a jaunty tune right up until a burly man slammed into him, threw him against a wall, and said in a disconcertingly polite voice, “My associate and I have something we would like to discuss with you in private.”
He and his partner pushed Demp into a building he had always thought was abandoned, and explained to him their proposal. Something about spying and espionage and sneaking around.
Once they were finished, Demp mustered all the courage he had and ventured, “And why should I be accepting this proposal of yours, eh?”
“Patriotism,” Answered the first man.
“Personal safety,” Chimed in the second, rather larger man, idly tapping the heavy cudgel at his waist as he did so.
“We’ll also be paying you a great deal of coinage,” The first man offered helpfully, spilling a small pouch forward onto the table. The glint of gold could be seen in the dim light.
“Ah…” Said Demp, the greed reflected in his eyes, “You boys make a very compelling case.”

From the Red Mountains to the Broken Arm, similarly compelling cases were being made all across Dorne. A washerwoman in Lord Santagar’s service, a kitchen boy in Lord Volmark’s. A western born merchant who would gladly inform on his clients for a few extra coins. A shopkeeper in Sunspear and a naval captain based out of Starfall. A network of eyes and ears, slowly but surely being knitted across the southernmost of the Seven Kingdoms.
