Cerenna swings her morningstar above her head with all her strength, and Danwell moved to block, but not well enough, the long spikes of the girl's weapon pushed through a knot in his oak shield, with still enough force to strike his breast plate.

The fierce young woman does not let up, and again batters at the hapless King's Man, his shield soon looks more like a block of cheese than an instrument of protection.
