"What do you want for him?" The Sea Lord asked, "If it is in my power I will give it to him."

Tristeza smiled hopefully at him, "Honestly?" she asked, her voice full of innocence.

Tristeza turned towards him and stopped abruptly, looking up at him with big, pleading eyes, she placed hands on each of his elbows, affectionately, "I would like to give him Nightfall."

"Of course. For you." The Sea Lord smiled, "He may come and get it from me whenever he wishes."

"I will take it to him," Tristeza offerred, as they began to move again.

"No. If he will not take it from me, it is not from me." The Sea Lord replied. "I will not let him lie to himself. The sword is from me not you."

Tristeza pouted unconsciously. She did not like this suggestion. She wanted to argue, but decided to save it for another time.

Tristeza spent most of her time in a rocking chair adjacent to the room's largest window, lulling the unborn child with her movements, even prenatally gazing out towards the endless sea. It was a sunny day, and the warm sunshine spilled into the small chamber, warming her skin--she had lulled herself to sleep.

The Sea Lord walked to another chair and sat in it. Resting his cheek against his fist he sat down prepared to await her revival.

Almost an hour passed before the sun descended into direct view of the window. The gleaming sunlight pressed against her eyelids, and roused her slowly from her slumber. The child within her kicked against her, and she rubbed her belly, cooing, shushing the child sweetly, apparently unaware that she was not alone.

The Sea Lord was lost deep in thought by this point and did not notice her movement. He just stared into space.

Her eyes searched the distant horizon as she continued to massage her swollen belly, quieting the discomfort of the child. She began to sing in soft, soothing tones a song the Sea Lord had heard before--her mother's song.

The Sea Lord turned his eyes to her and listened to her sing. He remained quiet just listening to the song and enjoying the tune.
