Obviously some changes going on here... Roland's resigned as Hand... Aranya resigned from the council also and will diminish into the west all Galadriel style. Lord Odhar is dying, so Roland will eventually be LP of the realm.
Roland remains loyal and only understands how to serve, but he's very much in doubt in the regent's capabilities at this point... And also questions the constancy of the King, so we'll have to keep an eye on how things develop there. After all things are concluded in KL, which should be very soon, Roland will be returning to the Vale with Odhar for him to die, and I guess the question then, is what next?
We have some diplomacy to do, particularly who to betroth Scot to. He's quite valuable so should be the key, in my opinion, to a new alliance. We're strong with the Far Reach, and pretty strong, now I'd think with the Westermen. Scot should be used elsewhere, I'm just not quite sure where. Any ideas?
Also what would you remaining Royces like to do? What shall we do with our little realm? And what individually would you like to accomplish?

heavy questions there Roland, Brandon will probably still stay in court, acting as diplomat, spy or whatever. Not really sure where Brandon is going.
None of the Vale bannerman has anything to resent us for right? If they do we could tie the biggest bannerhouse with the scot marriage.
Not particulary any ties with Dorne, could get Scot to marry Qorgyle's daughter if he has one don't think she happens to be the eldest though.
Riverlands maybe?

Hm, well Darien is gonna be regent of Duskendale but I really want to find a way to get my legitimization. I don't know much about the whole royce family so I'm not entirely too sure who scott is but brandon suggestion about dorne seems good.

Darien, Scot is Roland's younger brother. Currently squiring for Ser Osney Santagar.
Had considered Dorne as a place to find him a bride, as he's got the Santagar connection, but I can't think of anyone suitable. Riverlands is a good idea, and the Layla concept my have promise. Would need to be the eldest daughter, I should think.
Other than that there is the Mander and also the Stormlands to consider. Our previous advances with the North have been nothing but negative, and we have a bit of a bomb there with Roland's kids' heritage, particularly with a legitimized (confirmed) Shahi and Rickon's ruling on Martell should that come to pass. I see that as both an opportunity, a major threat, and a very likely cause for strife in the future.

You might consider a marriage to one of the new "Dornish" houses. Gives you a foot in the door of Dorne, you can still trade on previous alliances, and you maintain your political stance in opposition to Rickon's decree.

Hmm Scott could marry Lord Syndey Dedding's daughter, they have half of the previous Santagar lands. Make her the eldest one and could go for a storyline where Osney may or may not get a child and ultimatly it would be joined houses or some such.

Well not that many important people in the North nowadays, there's Stark of course(no matches there) and Manderly. Maybe get a royce girl to marry the Lord, think he's what 12 11. Didn't seem to happy with Roose either, though I guess none of them are.
Karstark is also pissed at Roose for marrying that skagosi woman, also unmarried I think.

Roland's going to clear out of King's Landing when I get back from camping and bring dying dad home to the vale to die, just as a for what it's worth. It'll be interesting to see if Lord Irwyn, Benfry, or the King try to make any sort of amends to him, as that'll color his feelings on the matter.
I remembered something that I wish I'd remembered long long ago (it would appear I'm not the only one who forgot). Doria Martell is languishing in Runestone, just-a-hanging out. If the King's ruling should come to pass, she becomes very interesting, becuase by reinheriting the Martells, her claim is much much stronger than Horas Jr. I haven't really finished thinking through what that means for Roland or how he'll react to it, but it could be kind of interesting.

Word had come swiftly from the North of the killing of a faceless man holding the guise of Emelia Martell—the news said that the body was so badly charred that no distinction could be made certainly, but all clues indicated that the killing had been that of an imposter. It was perhaps she and her cousin Zoella alone, on this southern half of the continent, that knew it had been the true Emelia who had died, and the false who had fled—she hoped to work this to an advantage, and maneuver it into a situation where she could take the life of the true imposter. It was certain that this man had had an agenda in Sunspear, and presumably, that agenda had been interrupted by the Ironborn attack—if only she could convince the Man that he would be readily accepted back as the ruler, and welcome him with no external interference; no uncouth little birds twittering to him that his secret had been revealed, that this may prove a possibility. It was with this plan in mind that she issued her first proclamation as the interim ruler of Dorne: To the People of Dorne:
It has come to the attention of your Government, that a Faceless Man was discovered in the Vale, impersonating your true and beloved leader, Princess Emelia Martell; though the imposter was killed, and rightfully so, the true Emelia has removed herself from the public eye, presumably, to protect herself from the unpredictable dangers which circulate in times as troubled as these—I, Lady Tristeza Martell, daughter of Calcibur, and nearest to the rightful royal line in blood, am honored to take upon those duties which are innate to the ruler of our Great Kingdom, and will gladly return those privileges to the rightful ruler, upon her return from absence.
Yours fondly, Lady T. MartellThe quote, well there it is by her own hand no less, waiting for the rightfull ruler to return which is now Doria Martell. Now to have a reason as to why she was unable to get back... Severe illness maybe?

yeah,
hmm we could have a sob story worked up for her, let's see husband Jon Royce died in a battle outside KL in 520 against Prince Andry.
Her sister is fled presumably, and lost, her niece is dead by the orders of Horas. Siblings Rhana and Elester dead in the sack of Sunspear in 519, her bastard brother dead in 517.
Much grief when she had a minor illness turned it into a far worse one, topped by the death of her husband, something like that.

And well if she dies we'll know that someone definatly wants Horas Jr as Lord Martell.
Maybe Roland could get a letter from Runestone saying that she has become healthy, since Lord Irwyn appeared in the Bronzehall it could be a dramatic event or something. Wonder how Irwyn will feel about the issue.

More trouble in Dorne, maybe a proclamation by Princess Doria would do some good. Dorne is hurting by the actions, I grieve for the people lost both the dornishmen and those who have always been dornish. That is why I beseech you to lay down your arms so that the sands of Dorne do not feast upon blood no more. Signed Princess Doria Martell. should be more obviously but there's a reason I'm not a lord in this game yet
