The woman cooing at the little girl looks up when she hears the sound of steel, and then a cry of pain. Moments later Timm Vikary entered the room his steel naked except for a lingering trace of blood.
Timm's angry eyes searched the room until he saw the little girl the women held. Smiling Timm walked over to the servant. "I would like to play with the Little one." He does not wait for her to answer and takes the child from her and holds her close and begins talking to her.

It was a long while before Tristeza walked in on Timm with the child--coincidence had brought her to the same child at the same time. When she saw the knight with the babe, though, her plans changed abruptly. "May I speak to you a moment, Timm?" she said stiffly, her arms folded.

Timm looked up at her. "One moment." He is now on the floor helping the little girl build towers. "She is going to be a great lady some day." He said almost more to himself.

Tristeza shook her head, stress evident in her face. "Take your moment, then," she mutterred, glaring stubbornly at an adjacent wall.

For several more minutes Timm played with the child. Then, after repeated glances at Lady Martell, he stood and told the little girl, "I always enjoy playing with you, and I will see you tomorrow."
The Little Girl cried out, and laughed as Timm walked to Tristeza.

Tristeza lead him away from the nursery--the library was nearby, and it would be quiet; even deserted at this time of day. She shut the door as he passed through behind her, decidedly glaring at him as he turned towards her.

Timm entered the room and slowly turned to look at her, but said nothing. There was a calm look etched onto his face.

"Your actions are wrong on a multitude of incredibly serious levels. With which would you like me to begin?" She asked, folding her arms, her eyes cold, and narrow.

Timm looked at her, "My actions are those of a doting uncle, only your guilt over the time we fucked makes you think otherwise." He rubbed his chin with a single thumb.

"You are not her uncle either!" Tristeza hissed, "and heed your damned voice." She shook her head in irritation; "You think the servants do not wonder why you go? Timm, most of the servants of the palace are not even aware that child is mine, let alone that it could be yours. I am able to contain my affections to ensure her safety, how is it that you are not?"

Timm looked at her and shook his head, "The more sane question is how can you? She is our daughter. And I want to spend every moment with her. She is my girl now."

"Our daughter? Your girl? Are you out of your mind, Timm?" Tristeza pleaded, "Your attentions may as well be a death sentence for her--if ergyo Delinal was to believe for a moment that that child was yours and not his, do you think he would hesitate to kill her? Do you really think he would even give it a second thought? And he would kill you too, and I would not be much longer for this world, myself. Are you after a lovely close-knitt family after-life?" She spat, as she began to pace, "It is folly to dote on her as you do; you are lucky a servant has not reported your suspicious behavior already--she is lucky, for that matter. You must cease at once."

Timm snickered, "If you think the Sea Lord does not know of my visits you are a naive fool." He shook his head, "But I do not think he would hurt the girl. And he loves you too much to ever touch a hair on your head."

"The life of a child is only slightly more important than your hunches, Timm," Tristeza said, angrily, "Suppose you are wrong--suppose he has only yet to draw the correct conclusion. And suppose for a moment I am more expendible than you think. We could both die because you are to weak to keep a distance!"

Timm thought about it for a moment, "Suppose the ceilings fall and crush us. I will not be cowed by all the worries in the world. I am merely the child's uncle, and that is all the Sea Lord will see."
