I liked the LOTR movies more but the third movie nearly soured the whole franchise for me - too many endings! Works in the books, not on the screen. But SW has been ruined by it's prequels but I think LOTR's prequel might fare better

Don't like either of them, really. Simply because I'm not a fan of the black-and-white moral caricatures that you see in both original trilogies. (And because the prequel trilogy, conversely, pisses on the concept and makes Anakin into a giant critical miss.)

LOTR definately. Love original trilogy Star Wars (as stranger can attest), and they were probably bigger in my life, insofar as my having been so young when they were new (and to be true, not yet born for the first, hehe)... But objectively, in every possible way, LOTR movies are superior.
