Caron nodded, "I think there are other additional precautions we can take...how about sweeping the Kingswood thoroughly before we even set up posts...then surrounding it with King's Men and Goldcloaks."

"Agreed." Says Coldiron, "If escape routes are cut off, they'll be less likely to make an attempt.

"We have not the men to sweep the entire Kingswood. Outlaws have called that place home since the Andals first arrived" he said with a smile
"We will investigate as much as we can prior to the event - we do not want to scare all the animals off or what is the point of the hunt at all!" he chuckled "We can use the King's Men or goldcloaks as beaters to flush out the game and should they flush out two-legged game then we shall have a different sort of hunt" his eyes gleamed evilly

Benfry shrugged and nodded his agreement

Benfry frowned "I do not need protecting, Lady Aranya. I am not the inexperienced youth I was when I first placed this cloak upon my shoulders. I have lived through two wars and a spell in the black cells. At least in this encounter I can face my enemy with honour. The 300 men Horas has chosen to assault us in the Kingswood will no doubt find us, no matter which entrance we use into it. It will, after all, be a hunt and so be loud & raucous. As we cannot predict when & where they will be I suggest that we have some lancers staged behind the main group. When attacked, a horn can sounded to bring them forth to crush our foes. I am wary of using poisoned quarrels as well Lady Royce. It is not an honourable tactic and any mishaps could result in hitting our own men to lethal effect as well. A trap is only a danger if it is not expected - once known it can be sprung safely. If the King is suitably armoured & shielded from harm and the Queen kept away from danger we can deal with these mercenary scum at our leisure"

"I agree, sickening sellswords is not our goal. Protecting the king is. If it is okay with you, Lord Smith, I will hunt with you and the king. The Hand's Guard (75 men) will then also be close. My father brought 100 men with him, plus the other Vale knights who have competed in the tourney, so all told, nearly 150 fighting men including squires."
As an aside to Aranya, "Lord Wydman did not come to King's Landing for the tournament, as he is fulfilling his duty as Lord Commander of the Vale Watch."

Durran Caron nearly went pale when he heard this. "Perhaps we should cancel the event altogether? Or better yet, trick them into thinking we are there to hunt...but in reality that we are there to fight. I'm worried for certain and long-time enemies of Horas Blackwood, virtually any Stormlord and Ser Benfry would be prime targets. The Stormlords because they were invaluable support in the war, and Ser Benfry well...I believe that one to be obvious. I will inform Lord Regent Dondarrion of his update, and ask for his advice. His life and that of Lord Kellington were both recently in danger lately, I'm not sure if he cares to risk it again so soon."

Benfry shrugged "That is of course Lord Dondarrion's perogative. I for one prefer to face my foes in open combat. To often it has been the unseen blade in the dark, I relish the opportunity to spring the trap. Perhaps Horas will have trouble buying more sellswords once word reaches him of how these fared" he smiled viciously
