Bardan looked at the corpse. The mans blood slowly trickled down his left arm, "What have I done..." Running from the Dancing Rose Bardan was in shock. He had killed in cold blood. The man was unarmed he only taunted the boy but still the great axe found it's self into Bardan's fingers and he swung with his great strength and killed the man.
Bardan did the only thing he remembered of his time from the Swift Noble the ship of Garracks. He worked. Finding a some wood outside the kitchens of Highgarden Bardan took up the heavy headed axe and began to slowly work through it. Soon sweat was pouring down his back even though it was a cool winters night. After an hour of cleaving the wood Bardan's arm ached but he continued. After another hour his back cramped and he almost stopped but the boy called upon the reserves of awesome strength he had and continued.
When there was no more wood Bardan took off his shirt and leaned against the wall. "Here boy have something to drink." Taking the offered drink Bardan was surprised to find it was cool water. After draining the mug he turned to give the drink back to the man to find The Regent Tallahar taking the mug.
"What happened Boy?"
"I killed someone Lord Tyrell."
"Someone meaning?"
"An old drunk man in a tavern."
Tallahar just nodded, "By your tone and working for three hours I guess this has affected you somehow?"
Bardan just looked at the man, "I killed an unarmed man."
"Bardan how old are you now?"
"I'm 16 Ser."
"Boy when I was 16 I lead an ambush on a Lannister camp. It was done at Dawn. The first man I killed held a soup spoon in his hands. I will never forget his face. But it was War."
"Exactly WAR. This was one drunken man."
Placing his hands on Bardans shoulders, "There is very little difference between killing in War and killing in a Tavern. The only difference is how you take it. Now you know it's wrong what you did. Thats the important part."
"No it's not Tallahar. I can't... I can't shut my eyes without seeing his face. I must leave Highgarden."
Tallahar sighed, "I loath to let you do that but I always trusted your father so... Go with the Gods Bardan. When do you plan on leaving."
"Dawn."
At Dawn the next day a lone boy was seen walking away from Highgarden on the Roseroad towards Kings Landing with backpack and a double headed axe on his back.
