At the signal, the 2 groups exploded into action against each other. Vardis did not fare well as two of his opponents in the second group ganged up on him and managed to land two early blows. His men fared little better, though one managed to land a hefty blow against an unwary foe and sent one member of the second group crashing to the turf.
The other battle was a messy and confused affair with men swinging wildly, often nearly striking friend as well as foe. When the dust settled, two of Group 4 lay on the ground and several members of Group 3 were moving gingerly.

One of the second group fell as two of Vardis' group returned the favour but Group 1 lost another man to a ringing blow across the helm as the battle turned decisive.
The 3 outnumbered men in Group 4 fought like lions against the 5 of Group 3, not only managing to hold their group but also take down 2 opponents, evening their numbers.

Ser Hubert manages to carry on his good form after taking out Ser Vardis as he drives another man to the earth with a heavy hit across the gut. Neville manages to mark his foe for the 3rd time but is yet to land a decisive strike, almost as though he were toying with the man. Only Symon, in Group 1, shows any sense of fight & skill and hammers a solid blow into the legs of his foe who is lucky to remain on his feet.
The epic battle between Groups 3 & 4 continues with both sides shows the effects of combat upon their person. The three men of Group 3 seem to have the upper hand on their rivals however.

In the other battle, Group 3 have tired badly and Kevan of the fourth group dispatches one foe with distainful ease. Though visibly exhausted, Ser Howlett manages to keep the other two at bay for now and nearly takes one out of the fight altogether but, facing 3 enemies next turn, he is surely doomed to fall.

In a short but fierce exchange, Neville proves he is the better man by parrying a thrust by Symon and burying the riposte into his abdomen. Symon yields, heavily winded as Neville turns to face the other group, to the shouts and curses of the crowd as wagers are settled.
Ser Howlett shows depths of tenacity and skill that only the desperate and weary can reach as he manages to charge his 3 assailants, hammering Kevan and another man onto the floor. Sadly the last man (Norry) sidles in from the flank and catches him painfully on the back of the calves and he falls.
The wiry & weasel faced Norry turns to fight Neville with something approaching dread on his face
