"I can send someone to Braavos, if Your Grace consents," Aranya said. "And I have a cousin who would be excellently placed to carry out an investigation in Braavos, with help from Lady Elena."
Aranya gazed at the King. "With all due respect, Your Grace, the Cult killed my husband, my husband's brother, and my nephew. I would like to know what your plans are concerning them."

"The Sea Lord will not meet with your Cousin Lady Royce. It must be a Lord Paramount or a member of this council for him to accept the meeting." Rickon replied, "Lady Royce. This is not the time or place if I decide to take you into my council on that issue."

Aranya nodded. "I understand. Who shall go then, to speak to the Sealord?" She looked around.

Rickon looked at her and then said, "I do not trust Lord Harlaw, Lord Stark, Lord Tully, or Lord Dondarrion to have the inclination or skills to accomplish this task. Lord Irwyn is occupied in Dorne, and Lady Lannister is truly only a regent. As is Lord Tallahar, but he would find a way to create an incident."
"That leave only the men and woman at this table. Sending the Master of Whispers would be an insult as a diplomatic move. And this is not the affair of either the Coins or Ships. That leaves the Hand, and the Master of Laws. Roland is also busy with the Dornish situation, and another matter." He paused and looked at her.

Aranya looked at him thoughtfully, and then bowed her head in assent. "I would be glad to go, and as Mistress of Laws I could give no offense."

"Shouldn't it be pointed out that the Master of Laws is a rather hot-blooded woman. Its a long way to Braavos, she arrives at the wrong time of the month, and boom... we're in a war. Braavos is a sea-faring nation. I think They'd appreciate a Master of Ships perspective." Erik grinned evilly at Aranya, not really wanting to go to Braavos so much as piss the Royce woman off.

"I think the "boom" would be more likely if the Master of Ships landed in Braavos and burned the city down, like he has been aching to do," Aranya retorted. "I doubt the Sealord would appreciate your own hot-blooded fervor."

"A sensible suggestion from this Master of Ships, I say we follow his seasoned advice." Erik says, grinning with some recklessness.

"Lord Erik, there is a whip reserved for those who derail my Councilor sessions." Rickom replied, but offered a small smile to the Ironborn.

"Forgive me your Grace. If I did not think the Eel was a squirming, sniveling, poisonous threat to your reign, I would agree that those who urge war against Braavos be handedly whipped. I suppose It'll have to be Lady Royce then who serves as messenger."

Aranya winked at Erik. Then she continued seriously, "What shall I offer him in return for Tristeza Martell, Your Grace? How high can I go?"

The King looked around at the other councilors, and seemed a little flustered, "I am not sure."

Aranya sensed his uncertainty. "Well, clearly I cannot offer money," she said. "That would be an insult. Mercenary or no, the Sealord is too proud to accept money. It has to be gifts. Ships they have, they don't need ours. They don't need land either, nor should we give them land or honors. But we can give them friendship. The Free Cities are always at war. We can offer them alliance and help in all their endeavors."

Elena added, "Information. The Sea Lord loves information. He knows what a weapon that is." She thought a moment and added, "Prestige. He loves when Braavos is made to be seen as the Biggest City in the known world. We can offer him these things."

Durran Caron remained quiet despite actively listening. He was not an especially proud man and so far he had not been required to voice his opinion. He was a steward foremost, not a politician.
