In response to Robb's thread about things kinda grinding to a halt outside of Duskendale over the past few days, I'm wondering if either of you guys wanna partake in a little NPC RP around the Far Reach and get some sort of subplot going?
I'm open to any ideas here. We could all create new NPCs to flesh out some area of the Far Reach (Geographically/Socially/Economically) that has been a little neglected, or we could use existing NPCs to flesh themselves out. Preferably a mix of the two I guess.
One thing I have been thinking about - Oldtown. It's a massive city, yet it seems to me the only RP that ever goes on there is in the chambers of power. We know basically nothing about Oldtown as a city IC. If some event goes down there, maybe we can learn a lot about Oldtown, and use those events to fuel IC action for our main characters etc etc etc I'm waffling.
So yeah - let's get some Diversion from Duskendale going.

Oliver, this sounds like a really good plan.
Of course, if you were asking me for ideas, I have none. I can never think of anything interesting.

Ok.
The heart of any good RP is conflict. So some shit needs to go down.
Rape of a noble by a commoner? Corruption? A peasants' squabble over the price of bread?

A rape sounds cool. I always wanted to get into a trial of the nobility back in medieval times, into all the laws and customs, etc.

I realized that Lord Justin Hightower turns 9 this year btw, perhaps we should hold a birthday party.

Oh, that sounds pretty cool. I have not even come into contact with any Hightowers yet or with their castle.

Justin's 9th birthday party sounds like an awesome plan. A gathering of snobby Oldtown nobles - people of generally little worth.
And then one of them gets brutally raped.

I also wanted to create some discontent with the Religion. The High Septon in King Landing is corrupt and incompetent I thought that the oldest Sept in Westeros might have some resistance. This would kind of support Alexander's new found religion.

Religous crusade? FR marching on KL?

I'm up for some religious discontent. It seems that angle is not explored enough on LoW, at least since I have been here.

Don't see us marching on King Landing but I do not like how the Septs are seemed to be in complete agreement with the High Septon when he has no real legitimacy that I can see. I just though it would be neat for the Septon of Oldtown to go through a reformation. We could possibly have battle brothers and stuff causing some issues. There is a lot of weird cults but no real discontent amongst the Septs. The complete failure of them to do anything about the Cult of the Dead God and the Fire is a testimony to his unfaithfulness.
I am not sure if I could play an NPC though like this as a true NPC is supposed to be someone that your PC can control directly like a knight or something that works for him. So I am not sure if Smith and stranger would let me do it.

I believe there was a Septon for the Starry Sept that I named in a Scenario. You could use him.

He was relatively pious wasn't he? I think that for that portion I would want to wait until Alex is out of Dorne, just because having trouble in two spots at once can be a pain in the butt.

This definately sounds interesting.
I could control Blackcrown's Septon Melson as a genuine NPC. Death to the heretics and all that. Presumably if the Septon of Oldtown kicked up a stink and sent letters round to all the men of the faith around the FR, these men might try winning over their Lords to a cause too. Lord Bulwer, for example, would probably listen with interest to any of Melson's concerns...
Also, Stranger, you'd control Oldtown's septon wouldn't you?

Fucking poisoners this assassinating of player characters is annoying. Its one thing to lose your wife another to lose your primary character. I am sorry Oliver this stinks.
