Robb will no doubt be prepared for such a tactic, being an experieced fighter as he is.

Well he fought against men of less speed, probably unskilled.

I was joking. Although it did clearly say in the Ruling that Speed/Strength skills would not affect fights.... hence why I dropped Robb's speed skill.

Stranger said that Strength/Speed skills don't affect combat situations, they're for situations outside of fights. There's a thread about it in General I think.

well it wouldn't affect anything while the fight is going on, just the first round, I reckon.

Well, if I had known that speed/strength would affect first rounds of fights, I and other people, too, I think, would not have dropped them as skills so quickly. The first round is very important, it seems, in the fights I have read about thus far.

not sure about it, though Felryn rolled a battle were Patrek rushed two men from the king's men with out negative modifier because he caught them of guard.

Yes, I think allowing a bonus for speed on this situation would counter the idea that speed and strength do not give combat bonuses.
I'll roll this fight.

Oh, well I don't want to argue with anyone over it, I was just going off the following post made by Stranger:
Revising Speed and Strength, Shield and similar Skills:
Speed: Used to determine foot speed for chases, and in some cases reflexes. DOES NOT MODIFY COMBAT.
Strength: Used when the character lifts or carries items of extreme weight or bulk. DOES NOT MODIFY COMBAT.
Okay, thanks Felryn, Brandon.

Heh, well that was against NPCs, but I probably shouldn't have done it, was just adding a bit of flavour. Though, in the fight between Dagon and Andrik, Stranger allowed Andrik to throw an axe in the first round before Dagon could attack, which seems like essentially the same

Ranged weapons are different than speed/strength skills. Speed and Strength skils do not affect combat. Period.

I decided to do this without any speed attack, sorry Brandon, I'll have to ask the admins what to do in these cases.
Round 1
Ser Patrek Redfort: 100 Lord Robb Tarly: 100
PR 155 vs RT 121 (Average Hit)
Ser Patrek, smarting from his defeat at the hands of the Wild Dog, attacks with an intensity the young Lord Tarly had not been prepared for it. Robb can not keep up with the blows from Redfort, and he receives a low smack to the leg for it.
Round 2
Ser Patrek Redfort: 100 Lord Robb Tarly: (-10) 90
PR 131 vs RT 113 (Light Hit)
Patrek keeps up the offensive, and Robb is losing ground. He does his best to keep up with the skilled King's Man, and manages to just turn away a blow aimed for his head, which hit his shoulder instead.
Round 3
Ser Patrek Redfort: 100 Lord Robb Tarly: (-15) 85
PR 138 vs RT 110 (Average Hit)
Patrek doesn't relent as he attacks continue, Robb is feeling the strain from his wounds, and is too slow to raise his sword as Patrek penetrates his defence and deals him a winding blow to the stomach, forcing Lord Tarly to drop his sword and yield.
Ser Patrek Redfort defeats Lord Robb Tarly
