Alexander fumbled through the correspondence, he was never fond of political matters but now found himself in the difficult position of trying to administer a kingdom that despised him. Governor-General of Dorne was his official title, although it felt more like a gigantic bullseye on his chest, one that every Dornish Assassin would have in their crosshairs before long. Either way, Alexander had accepted the assignment because he knew that rebuilding Dorne to be a member of the seven Kingdoms would be a more daunting task then conquering it, and that had cost the lives of nearly 100,000 men.
From an economic standpoint, Dorne had nothing of value: poorly constructed ports, poor farmlands, limited infrastructure and small population centers. Having traveled much of the country in search of Lord Fowler and his army, Alexander knew that the River areas of Lemonwood, Vaith, and Godsgrace provided the most fertile areas for farming. The low river areas provided good soil for fruit trees and wheat, although the closest large port was Sunspear which required the goods to be moved over land.
Alexander had sent Ser Keldon out with 2000 men and 3000 Dornish small folk to work on building an appropriate sized port on the mouth of the Greenblood and repair the damaged bridges from the war. Alexander hoped that a larger port would bring the larger merchant ships of the Far Reach and could take the Dornish goods to market all across Westeros. The process was slow as even using Dornish small folk, who were accustomed to the weather, the sun still made the task difficult..
Ser Keldon had worked construction with the Legendary Ser Gilbert Flowers, but he lacked much of the bastard’s knowledge as he began the difficult project on his own.
With construction started on upgrading the port at Lemonwood, Alexander sent frequent correspondence to Oldtown to the merchant families to establish an interest in Lemonwood. Alexander, sent bushels of blood oranges and assorted other fruits in an attempt to create a market for the Dornish wares in Oldtown. Eventually, after some political pressure was placed on the merchant houses, a small but growing trade began between Lemonwood and Oldtown for the Dornish river products. It was a small first step in rebuilding Dorne but, it was necessary to improve the relations between the two regions by strengthening trade.
Results:
The Port at Lemonwood is expanded to allow larger merchant ships to dock
Trade increases between Lemonwood and Oldtown
Alexander improves to Master Political Intrigue (for this scenario and additional RP)
Alexander improves to Expert Merchant
Keldon improves to Novice construction
Keldon improves to Noteworthy military stewardship
