The castle of Stonehelm rises up over the trees in the Rainwood, the ancestral home of House Swann. It sits on the north shore of the Sea of Dorne, just east of the banks of a river that runs down out of the Dornish Marches.

A letter arrives for Lord Kevan Swann, sealed with red wax, into which the imprint of a griffin can be seen.

A group of about fifty men ride up to the gates of Stonehelm, under the red and white Griffins of House Connington, and request entry to the castle. They are expected, and the gates swing open. Ser Grant dismounted from his horse, giving it into the care of one of Stonehelm's grooms, and asks for an audience with Lord Swann.

Ser Grant sets out from Stonehelm by ship, headed towards King's Landing. He left abruptly, begging the apologies of his betrothed and her lord father, after receiving a letter from the capital.
