"I hadn't heard that. Why do you ask? You seem a bit young to have met the man, I'd wager he died before you were born."

"Well, I did meet a man that called himself Maester Gunder three days past, remarkably like your description... Maester Gunder did have two valyrian links?" Brandon sounded confused but a little excited too.

"The list of Maesters with that... area of study is limited. I believe Maester Gunder was among them yes. And what you are describing is simply impossible. The man died nigh twenty years ago. If you'd met him you'd have been a toddler at the time." Niman says, as he takes a step or two away from the crazy Royce.

Brandon nods and relents his questioning as it seemed to unnerve the Maester. "Must have been something I ate then causing a weird dream. What are you reading about, Maester?" Brandon gestured to the book he had taken from the shelf.

The Maester cradled the book to his chest for a moment, before relenting. The front cover reads, Humors in The Body: a Medical Comedy in Four Parts by Maester Torance.

"Seems like a fun reading, Maester. Anything especially funny in it?"

"I couldn't tell you, I haven't read it yet." The tall maester confessed. "but I knew its author at the Citadel, and he had some clever japes. So I have high hopes for it."

Brandon chuckled, "I hope you enjoy the book then, Maester. Could you tell me if it's any good? I have plenty of time on my hand here, might as well spend it learning"

"I will do that." the Maester affirms. "Good day master Royce." he adds, before heading out again.

Brandon sits still in the library slightly at unease at the newest revelation. "No wonder the Uller's are slightly mad," he murmurs under his breath.

///// After reading the book, Brandon walks around the library trying to find something unusual... like a certain dead man or something nearly equally odd.

He is at the point of disparing anything of interest, when a guard jabs him roughly in the solar plexus.
"Sun's coming down, time for you to go back to your room. Lady Uller will want you washed for supper." The guards march the reluctant Brandon back towards his room. As he heads down the corridor of Mythical Creatures, he sees again the statue of the man holding the golden apple. Only there is no golden apple in his hand.

Brandon ponders the apple a bit, but decides to not mention any of it to the guards. He washes and prepares himself for supper.
