As the host from the Stormlands made its way out of Wyl and the Boneway it rode down the short distance to Yronwood. The Lord there, Jacyz Yronwood, was a competent ruler and time would tell whether his garrison of 5,000 could hold against the determination of the Stormlanders. The Stormlands leadership was Lords Wilbert Cafferen and Ser Grant Connington. Also in their midst was Lord Regent Breck Dondarrion and Ser Grant's noted brother, Ser Liam.
As the sun beated down on the backs of the soldiers, not all would make it to the walls of the Dornish keep. 375 died along the way to starvation and the Dornish sun-- conditions that made Dorne perhaps the best kingdom to defend, and most dangerous to invade.
As the battle begins Lord Jacyz Yronwood, his heir, Ser Hendrix Yronwood and his bastard son, Ser Andres Sand, manage to defend well against the fierce leadership of Ser Grant Connington and Lord Cafferen. The Stormlanders are kept off the wall for this time.
The second attempt to take the Dornish walls yields no more victory than the first attempt, but does do good to display the skill and fortune of Lord Dondarrion and his friend Ser Liam. The two fight back to back and take down several men before the Stormlanders decide and try to take the wall for a third time.
The Yronwoods have proven their worth as commanders and soldiers as they manage to hold the walls. The Dornish garrison is able to defeat the fourth wave of Stormlanders as they stand in staunch defense of their walls. When the assaulting host begins to break, Lord Breck Dondarrion stands up to his men and convinces them to hold their ground.
The fourth attempt is the successful one, as the brothers Connington lead the host onto the walls of the keep. The battle is terribly bloody as men fall all around them in what looked like the last stand by Lord Yronwood and his sons. As the host captures the gate and presses into the city, the Dornish defense maintains its strength. Despite this, however, Ser Liam Connington slays Ser Hendrix Yronwood in a heated battle between the two. Lord Dondarrion also performs quite well and holds his ground, managing to take down another two men-at-arms.
It is the return of Lord Cafferen's skill that sets the Stormlands host into the very final part of the battle as the Stormlands host charged the keep. Ser Liam Connington continues in his show of excellence, fighting at the front of the lines, while Lord Breck Dondarrion is caught between two soldiers for a time. After he manages to wound one, he hears Lord Yronwood and his son call out surrender. Smiling he accepts the surrender of the valiant Dornish Lord.
Results:
Lord Breck Dondarrion improves towards "master swordsmanship" and improves to "noteworthy battle command"
Ser Liam Connington improves towards "grandmaster swordsmanship" for his show of skill in this battle and the Battle of King's Landing.
