Rickon shook his head, "No, Lord Stark came to me and I advised him to marry. It was then I realized I too should be betrothed, or at least thinking about it. If it is better for the realm for me to marry, Jeyne then I shall. But Lord Stark was considering the same match for himself."

OOC: Lets assume this was before Tytos left for Dorne
Ser Tytos shook his head. "I would advise Your Grace marries Lady Jeyne Lannister, not Roose. Let us remember many of the treacheries of House Lannister were caused by their marriages into House Bolton. I think another marriage between the Westerlands and North would be ill advised." Tytos paused, thinking.
"Besides, Lord Roose should focus on the North. He has no reason to marry outside his own Kingdom when the Smallfolk have rebelled along the Stoney Shore and now in the Barrowlands. He is making the North a fool's mockery, and I think you should personally step in, Benfry."

"I?" Benfry looks surprised. "What message does that send out that I interfere with Lord Stark's domain before he has even had a chance to intervene. These smallfolk perhaps have legimate grievences but they should be raised at Winterfell, not Kings Landing" "As so far as marriage goes, I find myself in agreement with my brother. An alliance between North & West at this time would prove troublesome. The West is an unstable place and has been since Lord Randal's death. A match between the King and the Lady of Casterly Rock would provide Lady Jeyne with a royal link and quieten the forces against her at a single blow" ooc: I find it supremely ironic that I am advovating the King of Westeros marry the illegitimate bastard of Lady Sara Royce and Ser Garrett Redfort (two people from the Vale) to secure the West, but there's no way he'd know that IC

"And we should find a proper match for Rodrick as well." Rickon said out loud, "WIth Lydden's death do we have to pick yet another Western Regent?"

Ser Tytos nodded. "Yes, a match for Rodrick and a new Westerlands regent. I would think Lord Lefford would be a good choice. As for Rodrick's betrothed, perhaps a Tyrell? There are plenty of roses in the Mander."

Benfry smiled "I think we shall content ourselves with a bride for you, your highness. Rodrick, ah, lacks your patience and sense of duty milord. I fear that any efforts in betrothal may only encourage him to, an, misbehave at this point" Benfry flushed slightly
"And yes sire, with Lydden's sad death we shall have to appoint another man. Lord Lefford comes highly recommended. He is perhaps more of a war leader than a peacetime one but that may be all to the good at this time"

Rickon shook his head, "Benfry the men seem to not be handling the post that well. Mayhaps it is time to give a lady a chance. Lady Lannister, she runs Casterly Rock and her daughter's life now. Give her the West, but make Lefford the Warden."

Tytos nodded. "That is a wise move, your Grace."

Benfry nods his assent "Lady Sara may be a Lannister in name but she remains a Royce at heart I fear. Still, a name can be as important as anything else and the West lacks leadership to oppose her. Lefford will keep her safe or I'll see his head placed on the same pike as Allard's" he says grimly

Rickon nodded, "We should announce this. Also we need to select men for the small council again."

Benfry sighs and nods, and then grins suddenly "It's like this all the time you know, your grace. It never ends"
"Lord Erik Coldiron has asked to be the next Master of Ships. The Master of Laws, Master of Coin and Master of Whispers also needs to be filled. We need to be especially careful with the Master of Whispers, the last two were...dangerously unreliable"

OOC: Francis spoke with Roland about it already, in the Tower of the Hand. So technically you do have someone who asked for the position.
