Secrecy was Horas Blackwood's one true companion throughout his life. Even as a child he had been furtive, delighting in hiding from the world, sometimes for days at a time. He read every book he could find but rarely discussed their contents with anyone else. So to Horas Blackwood, while his death had changed his life greatly, it was nothing truely new. Just another secret to keep.
Horas left the Red Keep with only a few essential supplies. He departed in peasant's garb, carrying only a weathered sack with him. Sewn into a secret compartment in the rucksack he carried a small variety of dyes and poisons, a cream to disguise his distinctive blue lips, and a sizable amount of golden dragons.
Horas spent the next week preparing to depart. He grew a beard, and dyed all of his hair black. He bought a half-helm, an old chainmail shirt, and a decent sword and donned them. Men saw what they expected to see, and no one would notice the face of a dead traitor in the fierce bearded countenance of a hedge knight. To heighten the illusion, Horas even spent a few hours practicing with the sword in a darker part of the city. He could not remember the last time he had done so -- he could not have been older than six or seven.
Horas Blackwood thought it best to leave before Benfry's council, when more nobles who might recognize him would arrive. He departed from King's Landing without issue, just another sellsword heading to Webber's army in the Prince's Pass for a chance at plunder and fame. Horas had considered contacting his network before he left, but ultimately decided against it. As always, secrecy was of paramount importance.
