When his brother Grant entered his tent Liam was already dressing for battle. Both individuals were to be fighting against Lord Velaryon and the fortified rebel camp outside King's landing. Grant, despite his young age, was already a master of battle strategy and when his father offered him command Grant accepted happily.
Fully awake in the cold winter morning, Liam began to warm up in his thick plate armor. Ser Grant was Liam's identical twin, and it was said that they both were the spitting image of their grandfather, the legendary Songlord, Sylas Caron. Interestingly enough, these two were split persons each carrying one of Sylas's incredible gifts. Grant was a noted commander, and his brother a skilled swordsman. This was how people viewed them, but between the two there was never and discussion of their talents, even when discussing their famous grandfather.
Liam's page, Lyonen Flowers entered the tent quickly and informed the two that the army was almost fully mobilized. Grant thanked the young boy before the two brothers exited the tent wordlessly, and mounted up for battle. Grant wheeled his horse away from Liam as he nodded to his brother, riding fast towards the central location of camp officers.
Within an hour, the army was marching in full force. Already Liam could hear sounds that he recognized as the brutal clash of battle, and saw a storm of swords in the distance. His part of the army smacked into Velaryon's when the sun was full in the sky, and the warmth almost melted the snow.
Horses slipped and skidded, and men tripped under the slippery conditions. Liam witnessed the crushing of Karlon Barclay's force, and his heart sank when he saw Karlon cut down by Velaryon's men.
Liam was a friend of Emmon Barclay's and when he heard of Emmon's capture and imprisonment he was further driven against Horas. Liam knew perhaps he was getting ahead of himself, but he already blamed Horas for Emmon's death (though that was yet to be confirmed).
Liam swung his sword with such force and speed in the battle that he felt truly at home. Parrying blows with his sword, and blocking crushing blows with the strength of his shield, Liam strode through the battle field. In more than one occasion he watched Lord Jaehaerys Velaryon cut down a Stormlander and each time Liam drew closer to the Lord of Driftmark.
Liam killed a Driftmark man-at-arms and knocked another to the bloody snow before he turned to look his next opponent in the eye. Standing before him was the Lord of Driftmark himself, proud and strong with sword in hand.
Liam answered an call that never came, and lunged with great force towards Velaryon. The fight drew the attention of the surrounding crowd, and several men even stood for a moment to watch for its outcome. A poor lunge was Velaryon's end, as Liam spun quickly and parried the attack quickly countering it and running Velaryon's through with his sword. Ignoring the fact that his anger took him in full, Liam grabbed the Velaryon by his back, and drawing his sword out he slide it back into the man's chest.
Velaryon fell to the ground in a bloody mess, and all the men around him drew back. After watching the Lord of Driftmark collapse, Liam looked at himself disgustingly and rejoined the battle. It would continue to be bloody, but they would make it out alive.
