After the warm up spar with the knight, which he lost rather quickly, he motioned for the second one to spar with him. “Are you sure about that?” the second knight asked. “It was just the wine,” Patrek grimaced. The knight shrugged and rushed at him keeping him at the defence. Patrek was forced back a dozen steps or more before he managed to dodge a blow rather than parry and deflect. His head still ached with some pain but he pushed through and tried a slash from the right. The knight stepped backwards and blocked it with his sword, but Patrek used his superior reach to push forward his axe and caught a glancing blow to the knight’s helmet. The knight almost stumbled, but it was enough for Patrek as he managed to hit the knight’s sword arm causing him to loose the sword and then in a swift move removed the legs underneath the man. The man groaned lying on the ground and Patrek smiled.
He felt tired but had a lot of frustration that he needed to work out so he called on the last knight. Patrek had garbed leather armour rather than plate for this one as it wouldn’t do to get to tired. The knight fought with a long sword and a heavy shield and was defensive rather than offensive. They fought for a time and Brandon noticed the man often used the same defensive measures. He went over the moves in his head. “Parry, deflect, block, shield, deflect, shield and then one last time shield”. At the last shield he used his right leg to push the shield backwards. Hit the sword nearly out his grasp and on the swing backwards the longaxe would have cleaved a good third of the shield off but since it was blunted it only made the man spin around. As the man spun he tried to slash with his sword, but Brandon ducked as he too spun, showing a greater speed than he had used before, and in the same movement whacked the man with the flat of the axe on his rump causing him to fall down. Brandon sat down in exhaustion. “I guess you don’t want to fight me again then” the knight who had defeated him said and reached out with a hand. “You are lucky that I am too tired,” Brandon chuckled and clasped his hand using it as leverage to stand up.
After stretching himself and resting a bit he went to see how the rest of the King’s Men were holding up. “Enjoying your stay I see,” Patrek said oddly cheerful though it might be because he just had a tankard or two of ale with the knights. Burt glared at him. “If you don’t get us out soon I might strangle the other Blackwood men”. “We will have to wait for Lord Velaryon. So just hang in there buddy, well not literary,” Patrek said as he walked a way swinging a bit side from side.
