Ser Grant slapped the boy across his face, driving him to the ground and leaving a red handprint on his cheek that would be a deep purple bruise by morning. "Speak respectfully in the Hand's presence, boy. You are here to ensure your traitor father's continued loyalty, but I will not hesitate to put you in your place when you deserve it."

The boy hissed at Ser Grant but remained quiet.

Ser Grant snapped his fingers and four guards ran up to him. "Take the young snake and escort to his quarters, the tower room with the barred windows. I want him guarded day and knight, he is not to leave that room except for in mine own presence. He'll likely attempt more than once to murder us all, before I give him back to his treacherous family." He turned back to the boy, whose arms were each gripped tightly by guardsmen wearing red and white livery.
"You're going to be here a while, and it will go easier on us both if you try to make the best of it. If you don't prove too troublesome I might even take you to squire and teach you the ways of combat. If that doesn't prove realisitc, you will spend your youth wasting away in a tower cell, and you will be woefully behind your peers in warrior's training by the time you are released."
ooc: I'm picturing a tower room where it's impossible for him to get out the window, with several guards at the door at all times. I'm going to use this kid to taste-test all the food that my character eats, just in case.

"Fuck your mother!! I don't want to be trained by one of you filthy Sand Flea." He spits at him again, missing by a good margin.

"Have it your way then," Ser Grant said, turning away from the boy. "Strip his room of any books and furniture, leave him simply a mattress to sleep on. Once he is inside, lock the door. I will be up shortly to retrieve the key. That door does not open unless I do it myself. If he gives you any trouble, clap him in irons." The guards nodded, and began to drag the red-faced boy towards the castle. Ser Grant turned back to the Hand. "I apologize for that, my Lord Hand, but that boy will receive only what he earns while in this castle."

"I'll murder you whole Family. They won't be safe as long as I am here. We sand snakes our full of poison!!" Screamed the boy as he was dragged off.

Ser Grant frowned as the boy was dragged off. He was already contemplating simply throwing the boy into a dungeon cell and leaving him to rot for the next decade. "My Lord Hand, I do not wish to harm that child but I will not let him carry out his threats. My father is the only family I have left, and his life is far more valuable to me than that snot-nosed whelp's."

Roland watched the boy as the men dragged him off before listening to Ser Grant's commend. He nodded. "He's a young boy, perhaps you can yet form him into a courteous young man. Remember, his life is being changed, and he's being taken from everything he knows and loves, and given to one who seems an enemy. Let us write Lord Toland before I leave and ask his opinion to what should be done." Roland paused. "Lord Toland seemed a reasonable sort, perhaps a visit from father to son here in Griffin's Roost could be in order. We are taking this boy as a ward not only to ensure his father's loyalty to the crown, but so that his heir will have good relations with lands that are... Less Dornish."

OOC: I'm leaving for King's Landing, but we can continue this as if I'm still here whenever you post.

ooc: that's fine.
Ser Grant sighed. "I understand, my lord. I wish we had not started out with that exchange, and I will do what I can to hopefully earn his trust in the months to come. Lord Toland would be welcome to come visit, although I think it would be wise to only allow that after the boy has been here for at least several months. If he starts to be at all cooperative, I will be happy to take him as a squire and even have him become a friend as he grows older but that is a two-way venture, I'm afraid, though I will certainly try."

Roland nodded briskly. "Well, Ser Grant, I appreciate your efforts in the matter. I know you will do your best."
