The small island off the western coast, about ninty leagues south of Pyke, guards the cape around which ships must pass to sail into Lannisport from the north. On the island's eastern shore stands Faircastle, the ancestral home of House Farman. Around the island, five warships are constantly on patrol, each crewed by a hundred men, while soldiers gather in the castle. Nine warships are currently completed and outfitted for battle, not including the Valkyrie which is docked in King's Landing.

All twelve of Fairisle's warships sail from the harbor, each bearing a hundred men. They catch a southerly wind and make good time, despite being laden with soldiers. Ser Mychel Hill stands at the forecastle of the lead ship, leading the small army.

/////////////////////////////////////////////// All twelve ships sail into Faircastle's harbor, though only seven and a half hundred men remain, of the twelve hundred that embarked. As they filter back to their homes and families on the island, Ser Mychel reads a letter that had arrived for him, and immediately departs for Lannisport, appointing Ser Addam Farman as the Regent of Lord Duncan in his place.

A letter arrives at Faircastle, sealed with black wax.

//// Ser Steffen Lannister arrives at the island in a small boat crewed by Lannister men and bearing the Lion on it's mainsail. At the harbour, he is pointed in the direction of Faircastle, where he heads, along with the head of his household guard, Henree.
The two are dressed in fine raiment, a distinct anomaly - Ser Steffen is usually scruffily dressed. Indeed, the late great Lord Baldwin Lannister once informed Ser Steffen that he dressed like a stableboy.
On arriving at the keep, 'the worm' requests an audience with Lord Duncan Farman.

The Worm is directed to Lord Duncan's solar, where he is met by Ser Addam Farman, the castellan of Faircastle, who informs him that Lord Farman is in King's Landing currently.

Steffen nods solemnly at this information.
"No matter Ser Addam," he says. "I can correspond with Lord Farman at a later date by raven. For the meantime, you yourself may be of great help.
I'm going to tell you straight here, I wish to be married once more. I wish to have another child, preferably a son to replace dear lost Zachary. I arrive here at Faircastle with a hope of meeting a suitable Farman match. I have always held the Farmans in high esteem amongst the houses of the west, and on a more practical and perhaps more crude note, you have a sound record in producing viable children.
Even your servants are remarkably fertile - as my father discovered at a young age." The Worm winked.
"But even then of course, 'Ser' Mychel 'Lannister' is a member of the Kingsguard. Maybe there is something in the water surrounding Fair Isle."

Ser Addam bristled at the implied insults of his childhood friend, who had been the Master-at-Arms of Faircastile for twenty years before joining the Kingsguard. "Ser Mychel is a great warrior and a man worthy of the White Cloak. He earned his knighthood and proved his worth in battle as knights should," he said, the slight obvious.
"House Farman would be honored to provide a bride for you, although you would have to correspond with Lord Duncan to truly arrange it. His elder sister, Elena, is six and ten, a maid and available for marriage. My own daughter, Lysa, is the previous Lord Lydden's widow. She was with child, but the babe died soon after birth mere weeks after Lydden himself was poisoned in Sunspear. She is proven to be fertile, however, and slightly older if that is what you prefer."

Steffen's eyes narrowed at this man's tone. "Of course ser, I meant no slight upon my dear half-brother's prowess - I was merely commenting that for one of his low birth, he has done remarkably well for himself."
His voice became less cold. "These two girls, they sound promising. Tell me, how old is this Lysa of yours?"

"She is three and twenty, Ser."

Steffen nodded in approval. "Interesting," he mused.
"Might I be able to meet this Lysa of yours? Does she reside nearby?"

"Aye, she recently returned to Faircastle, from Deep Den. Her sister is married to the current Lord Lydden, and they had remained together but Lysa's desire was to return here a few months ago," Ser Addam said. He summoned a page, and sent him to bring Lysa to the solar.

Lysa Farman entered, and gave a polite curtsy.
"milords." She said with her chin against her chest.

"My lady," Steffen replied, looking her up and down with penetrating, critical eyes.
He spoke to her father rather than her. "She certainly looks adequate to my... needs," he said, his eyes falling on her hips. He spoke then to her. "Don't be shy Lady Farman, let us see your pretty face."

She looked up with an angry gaze.
"I am not a beast of burden Ser..." She said, rather fiercely, "to be talked about so right in front of me."
