To Lord Regent of the West, Maurin Lannister, Lord Jaymes Farman of Faircastle sends greetings,
I have met you a number of times, my lord, though we have spoken few I believe. You might know that my wife died, less than a fortnight ago, giving birth to a stillborn girl. This leaves my children motherless in my castle, which is not particularly hospitable for children. My father was a close friend of Lord Baldwin when they were both alive and I had though to request that you take my children to foster in Casterly Rock. My eldest son will rule Faircastle one day and I wish for him to become friendly with Lady Jeyne from as early an age as possible. He is almost of age to become a squire and I know that there are many worthy knights in the Rock who might take him on. My eldest daughter is of age with Lady Jeyne and my two youngest would have a better time in Castelry Rock than in Faircastle, I think.
A more official matter, I have not yet come personally to the Rock to do fealty to Lady Jeyne since her father died, though I have not been requested to do so either, and I wish to do so. I serve Casterly Rock as my family has for centuries and I would renew that oath after this tourney is over. I hope you consider my offer with wisdom and hope to speak to you soon.
Signed, Lord Jaymes Farman
