Lord Francis Varner is in his office, surrounded by message scrolls. He has two knights of his own banner at the door.

Lord Felryn approaches the door with two of his own men. He hands over a dagger he is carrying when he is searched, and orders his men to stay outside.

"Thank you for agreeing to meet me here Lord Harlaw, since the most recent attempt on my life, I'm afraid I don't get out much, although I'm sure Pyke Hall is absolutely lovely."

Felryn grinned as he sat down, "yes, I heard some piss-ant is after your life. Is it true you were the one who burned down his palace?" Felryn raises his eyebrows, clearly very tickled by the idea.

Francis smiled broadly, " I'm about to be placed on trial for it, so if I didn't I rather wish I had. You seemed less than impressed with this... peace treaty they've negotiated with the Sealord of Braavos Lord Harlaw. Is that a misconception of your stance?"

Felryn laughed hard and long, his face turning red.
"That beetle has most definitely lost his nerve," he said, still chuckling as his laughter died down.
"It was a coward's surrender, not a treaty, but it's naught to do with me any longer." Then he grinned at Francis, "why? Are you trying to rally a rebellion? I can't say I blame you, you've certainly been betrayed. That Dornish bitch must negotiate like a man with no legs or arms swims."

Francis raised his eyebrow for a moment, before continuing, "A rebellion no. Not yet. The Beetle is on his way out, and everyone knows that. The Crow says this trial is a farce and besides the minor irritation he claims I'm not at risk. I'm inclined to disagree. There are enough people in court who aren't fans of mine, that some will use this as an opportunity. I am preparing a contingency in case the trial goes against me, and I'd like to know if I'd have your support."

Felryn shrugged, "this is a talk for another time, then. Your concerns are not mine, Varner, and you have nothing I want. I am not disinclined to teaching Bettley a lesson for the many times he has tried to play me for a fool, but it seems he won't be around long enough for that to matter."

"You Ironborn have no appreciation for subtlety." Francis mused. "Let me just say that if the Beetle and the Crow fuck me on this, it will very rapidly become the whole Kingdom's concern, and a wise a man as yourself will find opportunities available. Since its my business to keep my friends alerted to possible future events, I thought you'd like to know. Unless you've got something on your end, I suppose that will do."

Felryn grinned, "as I said, a talk for another time, when offers are more than just words on the wind. Do not think me uninterested, however," his black eyes twinkled.
"One more thing," he said, standing, "Coldiron has proven himself more mercenary than I previously believed. From now on if you wish to get a message to me, Lord Alagon Merlyn will oblige."

"Really? How tragic." Francis said, shaking his head with a gentle tsking sound. When it comes time for us to speak again, I'll see to it that Lord Merlyn carries the message." Francis said.

Harlaw nods to Francis and leaves.
