Piers, Maurin and Marten

[The Smith]

Piers awaits the men in a room, with three padded chairs sitting in a circle around each other.

[Maester Maurin]

Marten sits down, his thoughts racing.

[The Smith]

Maurin enters too sitting down next to his son.

Piers leans forward looking his old friend in the eye, "We can not make the men who killed the old Regent the new regent. Even if it was justified. I am sorry."

Piers lets the news sink in before following that with a question, "So who would you two support otherwise?"

[The Smith]

Maurin nods and looks too his son, "I only know Banefort, and him not well. Listen to my son, he travels in the lofty heights." There is a hint of pride in that last.

[Maester Maurin]

Marten waits a moment, gathering his thoughts.

"I think that there are 2 suitable candidates, children of Lord Baldwin- Benedicta and Cedric. I have supported Cedric so the West could avoid civil war that would tear it apart, and tried to negotiate between them. But Cedric made a mistake in claiming power openly- Benedicta appears to be wiser and shows more restraint. Cedric is extremally ambitious person, he wants nothing less than being the Lord, and there would be issues with him marrying Jeyne. Benedicta wanted her due as Baldwin`s daughter."

"It is my belief that Benedicta was taught well in the matters of rulership and would be wise enough to serve the interests of the West and Realm. She has strong personality and will of her own."

[The Smith]

Piers nods, "And of course if the vote goes against Her you will still support the crown?"

[Maester Maurin]

"Of course, we will be loyal to whoever Crown chooses for the Regent. You are not only Regent of the Realm, but of the West as well, so you will make the right choice." -Marten speaks solemnly.


"Sara`s and Jeyne`s opinion is also important, of course."- Ha adds.

[The Smith]

Piers nods, "We will speak with them. Do you have any thing else to say?"

[Maester Maurin]

"I am eager to serve the Crown....but there is issue of what happened between us and Randal, and whether we will be persecuted for it."

[The Smith]

"No. You will not. I believe my good friend Maurin. Randal tried to kill you and you defended yourselve." Piers smiles, and then winks.

[Maester Maurin]

"Thank you, my Lord Regent. I hope I will have the chance to repay this favor in future."-Marten bows and prepares to leave.

"And I believe that if there isn`t Lannister you consider worthy to be the Regent, it should be at least someone who has trust of the future Lady of the Rock."- He adds.

[The Smith]

Piers only smiles in return.
