Alexander gristled, "Well Septon, I am a soldier and therefore have done more then my share of killing, before Dorne I always believed that the Smith had a master plan for all of us, but if that is the case it has been a particularly dark plan for me as I have suffered my slings and arrows and dealt more then my fair share of blackness," Alexander thinks back to his rage at Sunspear but says no more.

"The lesser religions, such as the heretics of R'hllor, believe that there is a Good god, and a bad god. The Iron Born Reavers believe such a duality also, although you'd be hard pressed to determine which of their two gods was supposed to be the "Good" one in the traditional sense. In our Faith we have no such duality. Men are responsible for the evil that men do, not Gods. The Father will judge us all, for what we have done, but the Mother will grant us mercy too. How than, will the Father judge us? That is the question to ask. Can a life time of good works, outweigh a single moment of evil? Some say yes, and some say no."

"I can never hope to erase the evil that I did Petar," Alexander says, "I know this, I just hope that through my actions I can hope to save others, like my children. I fear the most for them as my family has suffered for my actions, including my loving wife and my best friend." Alexander's eyes begin to water as he remembers his wife Dacey and Ser Gilbert Flowers, "I hated them for what they did, but in my anger I did only more harm to people who were not guilty of anything other then being kin to traitors."

"You have a long life ahead of you to make amends Lord Irwyn. Concentrate on that, and the Father will judge accordingly."

Alexander bowed, "Well no one knows their appointed hour, but I hope to make a small difference before the Stranger takes me," Alexander coughs.
"May I broach another subject with your Septon Petar?" Alexander asks, "It has to do with the faith as a whole."

"I am concerned by the number of cults that seems to pop up like weeds in the spring. The Fire Cult in Duskendale, the Cult of the Dead God, and I am sure many that are not known. I attempted to broach the subject with the High Septon in King Landing but he seemed to dismiss it. Instead choosing to hire Pentoshi to defend the Septs from some unknown enemy that the Lords of the Realms should protect from."
"It concerns me that his excellency trusts the service of foreigners, who may not even practice the faith over his own lords. Have things gotten so bad between us?"

The Septon seemed wary of the question. "I have not spoken with the High Septon for some time. I do not know why he sought to raise guards, but paying them has reduced the funding for many small septs, which seems a shame. I know the law prohibits the Faith from keeping armed knights, but I do not know about foreign guards. I am not a scholar of the law."

"I doubt even the Maesters are interested in taking it into investigation, perhaps when we travel to the Capital for the King's wedding you could come with us and maybe speak with the High Septon. My discussions with him did not go well, as I was left wondering whose interests he truly served."

"I... would not wish to rock the boat Lord Irwyn. I have little to say to him. I did not vote for him in the conclave, and I fear he would not consider me a friend to be listened to."

Alexander nods, "Well I understand it is a delicate subject, although if you have no sway with him then our cause must be truly in the Smith's hands, lets hope his plans include construction with all of his tools both the sharp and dull."

"I will pray for guidance in this matter," Septon Patar said quietly.

Alexander leaves the Septon's Office and moves to collect his children, before exiting the Starry Sept and going back to the Hightower.
