Honesty comes from being raised by those with a good heart.
You don't know how right you are Maester, Francis thought to himself, somewhat bitterly.
"I am sure she will, Maester. I am sure she will." Francis said, as he watched the older man cradle the child. It served to remind Francis that he was lacking an heir of his own. Something which would also soon hopefully be remedied.
"Maester, I'd like to organize a banquet to celebrate this peaceful transition. It will give our good bannerlords the chance to feel our generosity, and also a chance for them to fall in love with our young lord, just as you and I have done."

Hightower, jiggling the young Lord, grinned. "Between your fine Arbor Reds, and the charm of this fine young man, I think we will win over men."
The fine young man began to cry and the wet nurse retrieved him, but even this did not dampen the budding but violent affection the senior Hightower felt for the younger.

"I believe we will good Maester. Well, I will leave you to your letter writing, I should prepare for the announcement and subsequent banquet."

The Maester agreed, downed the last of his wine, and went to explain this new and complicated situation to various powers that be.

Francis smiled to himself as Maester Alesander left, hopeful that the man would stick to the instruction of the young lord in future years, and serve more as a loving grandfather than a meddler in the Far Reach's affairs.

Tallahar sits across from Francis looking at him, "So your the Regent of this Far Reach business I some how remember you forgetting to tell me that when you informed me in my Tower Cell."

Francis nodded. "You had bigger things on your mind at the time if I remember correctly Lord Tallahar. You were being kept from Callen's funeral, and possibly looking at your own. It did not seem a wise time to bring the matter up." Francis sighed as if thinking of the past was painful. "Can I offer you something to eat or drink? I've some bread and cheese and wine here in the solar, but I could send for something more substantial if you wish."

"Na I am quite fine Thank you Francis."
Tallahar sits back into the chair and starts to stroke the stubble on his chin, "So Robert fathered a Bastard. May I ask are you sure it is his."

"Undeniably. the infant is Lord Robert's spitting image, all have agreed. The parchment with his legitimation as a Hightower has been signed sealed and delivered. The boy is the rightful ruler of Oldtown and the Far Reach." Francis helps himself to a glass of wine, even those his guest declined.

"Well that helps. So who is caring for the Boy?"

"Ultimately the boy is my responsibility, by I have turned over to Maester Alesander those elements of the boy's raising which do not directly effect the realm. Alesander fell in love with the child the moment he laid eyes on him, and he has great hopes in the boy I think. As do we all of course."

"I want the boy when he is 10." Tallahar looks Francis directly in the eye challenging him.

Francis shook his head at Tallahar's boldness.
"I can't agree to that at this point. The boy is just an infant, and ten years is a long time. Let us discuss the issue when it comes to us. And at any rate, I have agreed that Maester Alesander will have a hand in the boy's fostering. I think you will find the Maester equally unprepared to make a decision on the issue.'

"Who is the greatest Knight in the Reach Francis... ME. I will have that boy as my squire I will teach him what it is to be a knight. Just like I taught his father."

And that served Lord Robert so well at the Red Parlay. Francis didn't say.
"You are a great swordsmen Lord Tallahar, none dispute it. But the boy is a Lord Paramount. His fostering is a delicate issue. We do not know what ten years will bring us, and i am not prepared to make a decision so far in advance. As the Reach's best knight you are surely well acquainted with a knight's duty. To serve his lord. Until Lord Justin is of age to make his own decision, his will is expressed by myself in matters of state, and Maester Alesander in personal matters. We will wait until the boy is closer in age before making a decision. I am not saying no, Tall, I am just saying not saying yes now."
