The assassin raised his hands to block the attack, but was too late Varner's knife cut his palms as well as his neck.

Francis lowered the man's body to the floor slowly, not making a sound. Swiftly, he undressed his victim, and himself, exchanging their clothing. Despite the sharpness of his blade, it took a substantial amount of time to decapitate the man, and prop him up in the seat behind the desk. That accomplished, Francis pulled the hood of the man's cloak up over his head, and used the passageway behind the bookshelf to go down into The Burrow's tunnels, the assassin's head abandoned into the depths of the sewer near where the tunnels converged with the sewage system. He'd eventually have to make contact with Ser Torn to suppress any questions surrounding his "death" but for now it would have to do.
edit: modified because i realized I forgot to mention taking the head.
