Elena nods and replies, "I hope so."
Piers adds, "Hmmmm, this is an excellant wine. So the North has fallen. That is good. I wonder what Callen plans on doing now. Something dramatic I bet. Rhod would you pass those mussels to our side of the table. Vikter Jast was whisked out of Oldtown. I think he crossed the Narrow Sea. Interesting no?"

ooc: oops I'm losing track of everybody's babies, especially now that I cluttered up the world by giving Tallahar three (he was more modest and just asked for one ) ic: Lilith laughed as her husband ate the mussels. She'd been so busy that she hadn't had the pleasure of watching her husband truly relish his food for a while. There was also a bowl of plums on table, out of sight of Elena but within easy reach of Piers. It pleased her that her husband and Rhodri were obviously friends. She turned a conversation to their children. "Have you had news of Yohn?" she asked Rhodri and Becca. "Petra seems to communicate with him through our weirwood but does not say much on the matter."

"That is interesting, indeed, Piers. Did he take ship with Eran Kidwell? I had heard they might be friends," Rhodri replies to Bettley, his tone casual.
Becca smiles at Lilith, "I'm happy to report he is with us again after his...sojourn. I think he is happier in King's Landing now that there is a weirwood growing in the Godswood. Those trees give him some sort of pleasure."

Piers smiles and adds, "Kidwell was on a ship that sunk. It left a day ot two after the ship that took Jast. Shocking I know... it seems the Kidwell line has had a run of bad luck."
Elena rolls her eyes as she pushes her food around her plate, "What you are really saying Piers is that you don't think Kidwell is dead. We all know you are saying that why don't you just say that."

Rhodri smiles. "I don't think anyone was under the illusion that Kidwell is dead. Either one, really. I suppose the best question is if he remains on the greenland as our Kraken friends would say or if he has fled the continent."
"I do wonder how we might find him. I hear he might have interesting things to say."

"Maybe if there were a trial. Is there going to be a trial Rhodri?" Piers asked, "The picture is already clear to me. I would think action is called for."

"How can we try a phantom? We will need to lay hands on him."

Piers nods, "I would suggest a Trial is not necessary at all."
Elena frowns at Piers, "Do you really wish us to descend into that kind of society, Piers?"

Rhodri nods silently to Piers. Looking to Elena, Rhodri tries to change tact. "Tell me, Elena, I gather you've had some extraordinary travels in your life. Any tales you are willing to tell?"

Lilith chimed in, "Anything you know about dragons I think would be useful to us all."

Elena looks quietly at her food a moment before answering, "When the Dragon took the throne using a dragon my father was displeased. He thought that the dragon made the Targaryen's less needful of him. So he decided they did not need a dragon. So he sent me to Oldtown to study them. I have always loved books and he thought to put my passion to his use."
Piers shifted uncomfortably in his chair then looked at his wife and smiled, "In Oldtown I learned very little, but I found reference to a book about dragons that was kept in Asshai. So I decided that the book must be followed up on. But I knew my father would not allow me to go. So I wrote him a letter and then convinced... Jayson to travel with me. We took fifteen men, but me and Jayson were the only ones to return from the journey." Her eyes glaze over and she is seeing th past.

"I ... see, mi'lady. I don't mean to press you if it is a tender subject. It is something I have long wondered on, however. The day your father, Lord Baldwin, resigned as Hand, we met as he moved to leave the city. We had little time to talk, but the point he made to me was that somehow the dragon, Mad, Bloody Aedon's dragon, had to be preserved, to be saved. The same dragon that was tearing the city usunder."
"Your father was too sharp a man to take to wild fancies, and he knew the danger brought by that beast. Yet he wanted it saved. I have long pondered his words in the days since, what made him think the creature was so important. And now that the creature is dead, what can or should be done."
"If you have...any insight...you might be the only one who knows. Anything you could share could be vital in the days ahead, if whatever Baldwin feared was true."

"We arrived in Asshai and it was dangerous for us. Almost immediately we were attacked by men. We did not know why, nor did I ever discover a entirely satisfieng reason for the attacks. I did not let the danger stop my desire to please my father, and quench my curiousity. I read every book there I could get my hands o, and made allies and enemies in my quest. Slowly I grew closer to getting my hands on Quhalor Drakonis, but then she found me." Elena paused to drink some wine.
"An old women infiltrated our rooms, and she was something else. She made you feel like insects were crawling about under your skin. She told me, that she had orginally planned to kill me. Yet she had seen that there was an iron will behind my mission. And if I was eliminated, some one more fitting would be sent. And that man would find the book, and destroy much of Asshai. So she agreed to give us the book for two weeks of my study if I would promise to visit one cave in the north of Westeros. I agreed." Elena stopped and shuddered, "I agreed and learned much about the beasts. What do you wish to know?"

Hearing Rhodri's question she replied, "That women wanted me to visit that cave because, she said the dragon must not be killed. Only dragon fire could end the night, and free the men. And After what Jayson and I saw; I believe her."
