The Dun Fort

The fortress is slightly above the town, overlooking the great port. It consists of a large main keep and several tall drum towers.

Aranya rode into the Dun Fort with the knights who were in her service and those who would be competing. They would feast in the great hall before the games started tomorrow. It would all be on a much more modest scale than King's Landing. Aranya did not have the heart to do more than that.

Jonjen Hill followed Aranya into the keep. When a satable boy came to take away his horse, Jonjen declined and put the beast away himself.

Aranya followed him into the stables, leading Captain Snow. She rubbed down the black in a stall besides Jonjen's horse so she could watch the man. The sensation she was getting from him brought back a tangled old dream, and confirmed at least one of her suspicions.

"You have travelled far," she observed, looking at his clothes and the wear of his tack. "We must discuss your journeys."

Nymeria followed Aranya, doing her level best to stay out of the way while the adults talked.

Rhae took Nymeria by the hand and led her into the playroom. "This is my castle, and I'll show you around!" So she showed Nymeria around the children's rooms and the nursery and gardens, and then they looked out on the tourney grounds.

"Did you see all those knights?" Rhae squealed.

Nymeria smiled at Rhae and followed, a bit more withdrawn than usual as she travelled around the castle with her foster-sister. As they reached the tourney grounds, Nymeria broke into a wider grin.

"Yeah, I did. We don't have a lot of them in Dorne, not like here.:

"I saw your Se Auron and Ser Sylas," Rhae said. "They look so different! Ser Sylas is so dark, and Ser Auron is so...silvery." She giggled. "And the Knight of Diamonds has such a nice shield. He winked at me."

Nymeria giggled at Rhae. "Too bad we're too young to get his diamonds. You'd look so pretty with a diamond necklace."

"Thanks," Rhae blushed. "Why are we too young? What do you mean?"

Nymeria giggled louder. "You've been living with Lady Aranya for how long, and you haven't been told what you have to do to get a diamond off of Ser Vance?" she asked.

She looked around, then leaned in to whisper to the perfect young lady. "You have to be his maiden and spend the night with him."

Rhae gasped. "Lady Aranya would do something like that! But then she'll go to hell! We have to go pray to the Maiden for her soul."

[House Dustin]

Ser Roland and Ser Daven rode into the fort. Daven said, "Gods, to ride past so many inns with restraint. Roland, I am no man to succeed in such trials."

Roland, for his part, looked at Daven, admiring as always his friend, but worried, as always, for the soul of that friend. "Well, Daven, let's find a drink then," Roland said without knowing what else he might say.

Nymeria shrugged. "I don't think so," she responded. "Da...Shajura said that the gods made men and women to worship them, and gave them desire so they could mate and worship them in that way. You can't be doing wrong to worship the gods the way they wanted, can you?"

Rhae looked doubtful. "Well...maybe. But you have say vows in a sept first, I think. That's how my septa says you should do it. You'll meet her for lessons! It will be fun having lessons with you. I get bored when I'm alone."
